It appear the owner reads the reviews so I want this to be constructive and not a spraying.
Popped in with the partner for coffee and pastries, speed of service was good a young chap took care of us pretty quickly. The inside of the shop was tidy and neat but the outside tables could have done with a wipe over.
The food here was really delicious, a curry pie, potato pie and sausage roll all top notch, tasted fresh and kept warm.
The coffee though, a latte and cappuccino in a mug, sorry folks but I've had coffee all over Australia, Canada, Japan and more and this was the worst in every aspect that I've ever tasted.
I'll go in order of what went wrong and then feed back after that;
The beans were not fresh, they had been sitting in the grinder for who knows how long.
They were then burnt from the run time, so the espresso was bitter and burnt from the get go.
The milk was heated up so much it curdled and was scalding hot.
As a result the 'head' was thick and congealed, I'm talking two cm of thickness.
Because everything was so hot the chocolate then practically brunt itself to the rim of the mug.
The presentation was terrible as it had spilt and run down the cup and into the saucer.
So start to finish the coffee was butchered, i strongly reccomend some simple training for staff, YouTube videos will work wonders.
Feedback time;
Only out beans into the grinder a need to use basis, put smaller amounts in, that way the beans can stay fresher for longer.
Only out the grind into the machine when you are ready to run it straight away, limit the amount of time the fresh grind sits in the machine to avoid burning it! Maintenance carried out regularly will also see to a good espresso. A simple clean will suffice, clean the lines before you do your shot.
A thermostat needs to be used for the milk, unless you want to burn the the taste buds and throats of your customers beyond repair.
Silky milk is a must, latte art doesn't matter, just cover it up with chocolate powder, but don't coat it on there.
Just for the sake of it ensure your coffee is presentable, no drips, no split coffee, it all adds up.
Hopefully this provides a...
Read moreI am a local and frequent this Bakery daily. The food is always great and fresh. The coffee is great but it is rarely a full cup. Lately I am disappointed to say it's only been half to 2/3 full.
Not sure how to reply to your question so had to post. I couldn't come back as I was on my way to work. I have complained in the past but the staff member became quite angry with me. It was the young baker boy. So I have just had to resort to buying 2 coffees. This is an ongoing problem I have had with more than 1 staff member there. I love the food and the service. No complaints there. I just want a full cup of coffee not half a cup or less and then...
Read moreJust called the bakery to advise the Ned Kelly pie hubby just purchased was really dry and over cooked (did not resemble anything like a Ned Kelly pie I have purchased elsewhere) and should not have been sold and was told “sorry about that”. I suggested Stuart be advised and was informed he’ll be told tomorrow when he comes in. The dogs ate it. At least I enjoyed the vanilla slice also purchased. The last pie I purchased here was also really dry (thought I’d give it another go) and am sorry to say I won’t be purchasing pies from this bakery again. Shame as I prefer supporting local...
