We stayed at the Figtree hotel in early October this year. When we arrived there, we didn't expect to lug our suitcases up 3 flights of stairs. (If parking behind the hotel) otherwise 2 flights of stairs if parking in the front. We did park in the front of the hotel on our last night to avoid some of the stairs. Unfortunately someone damaged our car while trying to break into it. Our room was very basic and although we requested a Queen bed we got a double. When I queried this with the girl behind the bar (no reception). She said all our beds are Queen! I'm pretty sure it was only a double, although we paid for a Queen size bed. The best feature of the room was the large mirrored wardrobe. Unfortunately there was only 1 plastic clothes hanger in the wardrobe. No other hooks in the room to hang up clothes and also no hooks in the bathroom. The sink was tiny and there was nowhere to put our toiletries etc. Toiletries were supposed to be supplied, all we got was one tiny shampoo and conditioner and one small soap between both of us for the 3 nights we stayed. When we were shown to our room the girl said House Keeping comes everyday at 10am if you need more towels. Well Housing Keeping did not come for the 3 nights we stayed there. When we asked at the bar and told the girl that housekeeping did not come and asked for clean towels, she said Housekeeping does not come and do the room up until we check out! This was different than what the other girl said. Regarding the bathroom, the shower recess needed cleaning. No soap was supplied to wash our hands in the bathroom basin. The small waste bin in the bathroom was the only one in the accomodation. None in the bedroom so when we needed to dispose of tea bags and other rubbish we had to use the bathroom bin that got quickly full. The hot water pressure in the shower was very bad however the cold was fine, but who wants a cold shower. Although the small fridge/ freezer worked well it was placed on the floor. It was designed to be placed on a bench so consequently we had to crouch down to use it. Our room faced a very busy road and was very, very noisy. We were told our room might be noisy as the rooms are above the pub, however the noise from the pub was bearable. Unfortunately the traffic noise was unbelievably loud which we hadn't expected. We didn't get any sleep on the first night until we...

I booked a room last night the 4th January for 1 night ,, I came down with my partner to spend the night there after I had to go to work in the area last night,, I arrived back to the hotel around 7pm and my partner and I decided to go downstairs to enjoy a couple of drinks and some dinner before intending on listening to the music and playing the pokies ,, it was all going well we were enjoying our drinks and dinner outside when Joel a worker/manager came just outside the doors where the restaurant is and yelled at my partner that he had better not be smoking in a non smoking area ,, I found this to be quite rude and my partner was very embarrassed and agitated that Joel had spoken like that to us ,, neither of us were vaping nor did we intend to vape ,, we were eating,, there’s was a vape on the table next to us that my partner had placed on the table instead of sitting on it in his pocket,, after this incident I finished my drink,, we got our dinner taken away and we packed up and left ,, we were gone by 10pm ,, we did not stay ,, I spoke with max and handed him the keys back and also put the complaint into him about what happened,, it would have been ok if Joel had approached us and spoken with us but he yelled across at us so everyone could hear ,, which is very unprofessional and was not needed As we didn’t stay the night due to this incident as my partner and myself didn’t feel comfortable being there and was no longer enjoying a night away ,, we came from Penrith for the night and I’d like to be...

Extremely disappointing experience. My husband and I booked a room at Figtree Hotel over the phone and drove 4.5 hours from Wagga to attend a friend’s birthday in Wollongong. When we arrived around 4:20pm, we approached the bar to check in and spoke with Joel (the manager on duty). He sighed loudly, put his head in his hands, and said the internet was down so he couldn’t check us in. He was dismissive, unhelpful, and made us feel like we were the problem rather than paying guests.

We offered solutions like paying cash or providing ID, but he made no effort to assist. Despite telling us to ā€œgive him 5 minutes,ā€ he spent the next 20 minutes serving drinks and chatting with customers instead of trying to help. Eventually, we were told to go to dinner and ā€œcome back laterā€ to maybe check in.

We completely understand tech issues happen, but a little kindness and professionalism would have gone a long way. Instead, we left feeling frustrated and unwelcome, and had to scramble for last-minute accommodation. Very disappointing, especially after being past...

I’m visiting from the Central Coast and went to Yours & Owls Festival located in Wollongong. I have enjoyed an amazing weekend staying at The Figtree Hotel. Not only is it walking distance to the local shopping centre, it’s also just a quick bus ride into town. Before heading to Day 2 of the festival, I decided to have lunch at their bistro and the chicken leek pot pie did not disappoint. It was very filling, very saucy and the sides were delicious, this meal kept me filled. Coming back from the festival, I had dinner but this time I decided to try the slow cooked lamb riblets and the 300g Grainge scotch fillet and hooly dooly that fillet is the biggest i’ve ever seen. Very tasty, cooked to my sort of perfection of being medium rare with Dianne gravy to go a long with it. Central coast pubs needa up their game, they could really learn a thing or two. 12/10 I highly recommend!!

It’s a pub so don’t expect a lot. It’s also a busy pub. It has food and food places next door It’s ok but I can’t give it 5 stars compared to other places if been to near by If you are just after a place to stop, it’s not too bad and was relatively cheap for Wollongong ( although check out the nan tien temple for accommodation if you don’t need a tv) Lots of stairs so if you are stair unfriendly be aware Room points ( single room) Tv microwave Jug/coffee and bar fridge Bad points No coat hangers No rubbish bin. (Really??) No bedside table ( had to drag fridge over ) No chair , or place to place a bag, Lots of road noise Wifi doesn’t work in the room. Parking is shared between food place and pub so can be hard to find a spot

For $159 we got a room (12) with a double bed and our own bathroom. We also got: -a door with missing hinges and framing coming away from the wall -a bathroom door that was falling apart and couldn’t be locked or properly closed -a mouldy(ish) bathroom -the kind of mattress where you roll into each other of a night and feel all the springs -clanking pipes and air vents directly outside of the window (not bad unless your a light sleeper) I’m fine with bare bones. If it’s a bed to sleep for the night, I can deal. However when it’s very OVERdue for a renovation, $150 a night is a bit of a piss take.
