Holy guacamole! This place is epic. I’m typically not interested and even disgusted by the thought of gluten free food (sorry gf-ers!) but this was possibly the most peng gluten free food I have ever tasted. I started with the Cheesecake caramel brownie (?), and boy did that set the bar high! Lusciously rich and thick, it was packed with chocolatey caramel goodness. Soft and decedent, it may very well be the best brownie i’ve ever had, with or without gluten. Generally, i’ve found gluten free food items to be grainy or have an odd texture however this was absolutely not the case! It was phenomenal. Also a plus that it was giant- pretty much the size of two brownies. Next I tried a donut ball. O.M.G. I believe donuts are one of the rare beauties of our world. Crunchy and airy, yet dense and fresh, the donuts were scrumptious - so delicious that they simply could not be captured in the mere english language. They were oily to an extent that moistened them, though not overwhelming, and it only added to the pleasurable experience of the meal. I also had the privilege of trying their cheeseburger. I was skeptical, as you probably are, reading this review. I know- the thought of gluten free bread scares most of us, but once again, the food was mouthwatering. The bread was unexpectedly soft, it did have a slight different texture but if I didn’t know that it was gluten free, I never would have guessed. Each component of the burger harmonised with eachother, ascending to a crescendo which sang for my tastebuds. The sweet and punchy onions, rich, moist beef, creamy American-style cheese, sweet and flavourful tomato sauce and soft plump bread resulted in a divine swell of tastiness. What more can I say? GF eats surprised me, impressed me, and encouraged me to neglect my food biases. Finger-licking good, I say. #yummy #peng...
Read moreAn unfortunately rather late review but relevant none the less. I'm gluten free and my dining buddy is not.
We visited GF Eats in January and dined in for lunch. We also bought a number of items to take away.
We had the waffles with ice cream and bacon and a chicken parma. The food came out promptly and was absolutely delicious. We both loved the food, there was no evidence that any of it was gluten free. No weird textures and no disappointingly small sizes.
The dining-in area is small but it works. We aren't from the area so it was helpful for us to sit for half an hour and enjoy our food.
As well as hot food the store offers a large cake selection. We got a layered brownie cheesecake combo which was really nice - I'm personally not into brownies but I was intrigued. It was rich and decadent with a layer of blueberries in the middle.
We also bought a caramel eclair which was really good. Choux pastry is a challenge with regular flour, let alone gluten free flour.
There's also a small store inside to buy specialty gf items - a highlight was coeliac safe "smarties"! There's also loads of savoury items that are frozen to be cooked at home. We bought a tray of cinnamon buns to bake at home.
It's a great store with real heart. The team put in a massive effort and they are very active on social media and keeping their Google Maps / listings up to date. This is super important when coeliacs are sometimes driving many hours for a dedicated...
Read moreIt’s such a shame that this place is run by people who have no customer service skills, as the food is usually good. Caters to gf but not dairy free even though it says so on the menu. I’ve never been so baffled by kitchen staff saying it’s “too hard and confusing” to ask for no cheese on a burger. If you find that difficult perhaps you shouldn’t be in the kitchen. Not to mention yelling it across the entire place for everyone to hear, embarrassing the customer over a simple dietary request. Hopefully they can change their attitudes as the fried food in the past has always been great but being treated as a burden instead of a paying customer is not really worth it and would rather support a business that is deserving and appreciative. REPLY - I’m not sure how saying don’t worry about it, due to your rudeness yelling out from the kitchen, and choosing to leave quietly is “spitting the dummy”. But it seems like you would rather blame the customer than take responsibility for your lack of customer service skills! Asking the waitress to check if a burger can be made dairy free shouldn’t be considered “bothering the kitchen”. Your reply has proven my point regarding your complete disrespect for your customers so I won’t be...
