We were in Woodside for lunch today and thought we would pop in for lunch. It seemed like quite a cute cafe in an old heritage building with lots of outdoor seating in a garden like surround. However the plantings were a bit neglected and the chairs and tables under the tree at the front were very scruffy and the ground was covered in weeds which were all going to seed (not a good place to sit if you're wearing summer sandals!) There is a small area at the back but it seemed like people hadn't used this area for a while with the chairs and tables quite dirty and covered in leaf matter and cobwebs. We ended up sitting inside which was cute with mismatched furniture and crockery, art on the walls, soft music and quirky ornaments. The place seemed popular but service was slow, which could be a staffing issue today (30 Dec) but it wasn't explained. We were told it would be a 25 minute wait but it was about double that. The food was good, we had a combination of breakfast and lunch dishes and they all used very fresh ingredients. We did hear that a number of vegetarian items on the menu had already sold out at 1pm which was disappointing. Other customers were also waiting a long time for their orders and we did witness someone complain twice. The biggest criticism though was the chocolate milkshakes which used powdered chocolate which wasn't even dissolved. My son refused to finish his. The kids menu offerings are limited to a cheese toastie or banana bread so we ordered from the main menu for our almost 7yo. One thing we did love was that there was a whole heap of little games and logic puzzles on the tables which kept us amused. I wanted to love this place but it fell short unfortunately although the food was a...

The jazzy atmosphere was lovely and it was nice and cosy.
I have not tried their food as of yet and may at some point amend my review if I do so.
We ordered 2 "Belgium Hot Chocolates", nitpick but it's properly called "Belgian hot chocolate".
They were on the menu at 5 dollars, the girl serving us attempted to charge us $10.50 for two, which we had to correct due to her being 50 cents out. Not actually an issue at all, probably just am honest mistake on her behalf.
The hot chocolates we were served however were subpar. I notice they just used a powdered hot chocolate which is really quite cheap as Belgian hot chocolates are typically of a higher quality than just a powdered Milo style of beverage.
The portion size was really good, but the taste was just a powdered low quality hot chocolate and was really not worth the money.
I may still come back at some point to try their food but I was left feeling rather mediocre about the experience I was given all in all.
I like what they're going for but I'm not sure it's the right place to go if hot chocolate is what...
