Station7cafe — Restaurant in Yea

My family and I celebrated my birthday lunch at this gorgeous cafe this afternoon. When my sister arrived early to set up the birthday decorations on our table, they said they would do it for her. And that's exactly what they did, right down to a sweet present from the 'Cafe Team'. From the moment we arrived, they were there to greet us, and to recognise my special day. Nothing was spared. It felt like we were entering a friend's home rather than a cafe. The decor is eclectic, and inviting. Lots of things to look at and special treats to buy for gifts. The staff were attentive, without us feeling rushed, and actually made sure photos were taken, and the birthday song was sung. Food? Yummy! I'm not sure, but I think it was the owner who, when I thanked her for ensuring the lunch was special, replied, "It's all about the people". Such a lovely response, and quite clearly the sentiment behind their business. I am in Yea every Friday to visit family, and I shall certainly now be one of Station 7's regular customers. Terrible people. When we entered in the cafe , the lady behind the counter said ‘ to many people , you can only get takeaway ‘ , even though a group of five people from one table and another group of three people from another table were leaving after their meal! When I asked if we could seat in those tables , the other lady from the counter said ‘ it was ok to seat’ But there was agitation and an uncomfortable look in their faces! I guess too many brown people for them! However, they ended up sending one of their regular patron to tell us off , at that point we had to leave as we did not want our children to taste this unpleasant situation. It appeared to me non locals especially if you are of a non white background- you will not be welcomed in this cafe. There are locals who are their customers will harass you as well. We had a terrible experience today at this place. We were a group of 10 went in , was told they could only take 8, so 2 of us took a seat outside. What happened afterwards is : the owner and a few local customers (they knew each other) started telling the 8 of us inside we shouldn’t be crowding inside(!). The owners allowed 8 of us in! There were others there as well, they were mostly locals. 1 of us came outside leaving 7 inside. Now the 7 inside were told by locals we shouldn’t be crowding inside (!).
