What can I say, wonderful venue, fantastic service and very very scrumptious food. Venue has a classy modern feel, with decorative panelling hanging from the ceiling to displace sound, which worked very well, as we could have a conversation without having to shout at each other. Our couples night started with drinks, followed by a serve of 1 dozen oysters for entree, not just all natural, or kilpatrick, or mornay or sweet chilli & ginger - they were happy to a mix of all 4. Best I’ve been able to get at other places were 6 of one and 6 of another. For our main, I had a perfectly cooked med/rare eye fillet wrapped in bacon with red wine jus, service with a nice mix of green salad (not iceberg lettuce), tomatoes, capsicu etc My partner had the Prawn, Pear, Parmesan and walnut salad (warm), which she enjoyed immensely as she didn’t share. For desert, we couldn’t help ourselves and ordered another entree instead, this time it was the Baked garlic and thyme cambers cheese pot with sourdough bread - fantastic. On the plus side, the staff are very friendly and efficient. The restaurant has plenty of space, which means you’re not sitting on top of other guests. That's great, particularly when there are large tables of diners (which there often are).
Elliot’s biggest challenge is that they aspire to provide an upmarket experience - certainly their prices would reflect this - but the quality of their food is doesn't match their aspirations unfortunately. I’ve tried a few of their dishes and the consistent theme is that there’s always something on the plate that disappoints. For example, the crispy skin duck breast is well cooked but the accompanying noodles were practically inedible. The lamb was well cooked but extremely fatty.
My experience suggests that there are now a range of other options in Young that provide quality food and better...

The food is executed perfectly. I can not fault them. Having tried the pork belly (incredible) the Salmon, cooked perfectly with a crispy skin ....mouthwatering. The veal medallions with Blue Cheese..divine and their panna cotta is one of the best I've eaten both within Australia and Overseas. Their food is as it should be. Great quality ingredients, food prepared and cooked to perfection and flavours just right. They don't try too hard, so what you get is beautiful produce cooked brilliantly.
