What a lovely find this hotel was. It is in a typical Austrian style but with an elegant twist. We had two separate rooms having paid for singles around 70 euros including breakfast. What a fabulous deal. We were given very large double rooms and one I would describe as a suite with separate sofa, coffee table and TV viewing area. This hotel is 400 years old the windows aren’t double glazed but open fully with a useful fly screen and cupboards double up as wardrobes. The furniture within the bedrooms oozes quality and of an age where it suits the property perfectly.||The bathrooms in the rooms we had could do with a little make over but are spotlessly clean, with Jack and Jill sinks, with a shower from a mixer tap over the bath and perfectly functional. The toilet is in a separate room. The beds were very comfortable. Plenty of pillows in the room should you need them.||||Staff were friendly and welcoming and efficient on check in and perhaps not so on check out with the housekeeper receiving a full briefing while I waited.||||We ate in the restaurant which provided excellent local food and service. With complimentary amusee bouchée courses of smoked bacon and nut bread and a delightful mushroom soup. The menu was small but ranged from venison to a pasta based meal. Both our meals were excellent and satisfying all served with a friendly smile. There is an outside eating area weather permitting. Breakfast was very traditional and plentiful with the standard and plentiful cheeses, breads, cereal with a small cooked menu including various egg dishes which is all our and the waitresses language skills could work out. Perhaps an English version would be useful as the scrambled egg was delicious and it would have been a shame to miss out.||||The quiet charming hotel is in a small town but has attached access a small grass area by stream and a signposted walk with a seating areas around and has a large free car park attached to the property. ||||Overall a fantastic find for the price we stayed at and I would be back in a flash. The rack rate however was distinctly more so search the Internet for...

Read moreUnfortunately, our experience was disappointing.
We had booked and fully paid for a two-bedroom apartment through Booking.com, receiving both a confirmation and arrival instructions, including a message suggesting we reserve a table at the restaurant. Upon arrival at 6:30 PM with two hungry children, we were told that our room had already been given to someone else. The receptionist was dismissive and blamed the situation on his manager, who had allegedly informed him at 3 PM – yet no one contacted us through any of the many available channels (email, phone, or Booking).
Had we been informed in time, we could have calmly arranged alternative accommodation, and the situation would have been understandable. Instead, we were offered two smaller rooms, which did not match what we had booked, yet at the same price. For a family with children, this was far from ideal.
The overall handling felt unprofessional – especially the receptionist’s attitude, with an ironic smile and his hand self-importantly clasped behind his back. There was no willingness to communicate the issue in advance or prevent the unpleasant situation.
Two stars for the appealing photos and a fairly decent kitchen – but unfortunately, we cannot...
