I travelled with my family to Hallstatt and stayed 3 nights at Vieh Heli. I have a mixed opinion about the place. Pros: Contarary to many reviews, the room was big enough (Deluxe Double Room), and neat. The bathroom was also good - larger than that of many BnB hotels. The view from the room was epic, direct on to the Alps. The contactless check-in process with key dispenser. Enough parking spots right in front of the building. Neutral: The lacation is close to Hallstatt (less than 20 min drive) and other places of attraction (lakes, mountains etc.). However, the place itself is a bit isolated. In case you wann go eating or shopping late eveings, there are no options within walking distance. The breakfast was in general good. However, since Vieh Heli is a Metzgerei, I had kept the bar a bit higher (atleast for the meat products) which was not met. In addition, the employees were not very spontaneous to refill the empty coffee flasks or finished bread baskets. Refilling took its own sweet time. Cons: The room was equipped with most toiletries except for toothpaste and toothbrush, although it was explicity mentioned in the website and the info leaflet in the room that toothpaste and toothbrush are provided free of cost. I did not have toothpaste and called the reception just to get informed that toothpaste is not available. The guy who answered the phone was not even apologetic for denying the promised service. The room cleaning service was too motivated that they marched into the room, cleaned the floor and changed sheets two days in a row, although we had placed "Do not disturb" card...
Read moreThe hotel is located in a village where nothing is open after sunset, except for an automatic distributor. There was no one to greet us, so we had to find the receptionist’s mobile number to be informed that we could take the key from a keybox.
The hotel entrance and room floor had a very strong smell of meat, which is understandable since they share the same building with a butcher shop.
The room was spacious but dusty and cold. We had to find the heaters and turn them on ourselves.
The breakfast buffet was poor, offering only basic items compared to other hotels we stayed in Austria at the same rate.
The worst part is that I unfortunately left my Chromecast TV box behind the room’s TV. I called the hotel to check if they had found it. They called me back to confirm they had found it and asked me to send my address so they could ship it back to me. I did so, repeatedly mentioning that I wanted the shipping cost and their PayPal account to pay them immediately.
They never responded. Five days later, I still haven’t received any replies. They do not return my calls or messages.
To make a long story short, I do not recommend this hotel. Pay a little more, and you’ll at least get...
Read moreIf I could give 0 stars to this disgusting awful terrible hotel I would. I don't even know where to begin. The "double bed" is 2 old single mattress side by side, it is also within a wooden box, so you won't be able to lie down fully stretched without your feet reaching the box( I myself am not that tall (1,77m)) . The pillows are ridiculously bad!! There are no drapes, be prepared for a lot of sunshine. There is no reception ( I had to call a number and get my key from a coded box) , I wanted an extra pillow but there is simply no one to speak with! The bathroom is FILTHY!!! Spider webs all over de place and a lot of mould and dirty! The shower hanger was also broken so we had to hold the shower while showering! They also did not clean the room!! The hotel is nearby a highway so expect a looot of car noises. I am probably forgetting about several other stuff, but the bottom line is: STAY THE HELL ALWAY FROM THIS DISGUSTING...
