This place absolutely makes it into the David & Izzy guide of local gems!
We ended up eating here 3 times during our stay in Bad Kleinkirchheim.
First up, the place itself, it sits a little way back from the main road, so you have to know it's there or go hunting. It looks amazing from the outside, everything you could ever want from a traditional Austrian venue. We only wrnt in the evenings, and the outside courtyard has a nice big firepit going each night that you can stand around with your drink and enjoy the heat. Most seating areas are covered by a barn style roof complete with heaters, so even in the snow, you can enjoy outside; we ate in the courtyard twice. Inside is filled with even more character and charm, set over 2 floors this place was packed each time we went. Reservations are recommended, although they are really good at finding space!
The service was ace each time we went there, Alen in particular was really good, although genuinely all staff were superb.
The food... the food was delicious. They have a traditional wood fired pizza oven, so we obviously tried that. Great flavours, generous toppings, delicious. We also dived into some more sophisticated dishes, including the deer and potoat pasta which was sweet, tasty and cooked fanatically with nice soft meat.
Even our longest sitting, with 2 mains and a good 4 or 5 drinks each it still only came to around €70.
I'd highly recommend this place as an essential for Bad...
Read moreThe restaurant is very nice, located in a beautiful setting, and offers traditional Austrian cuisine. The interior is also well-designed, which adds to the atmosphere. However, the service is not very friendly, and you don’t feel welcomed or comfortable there. The waiters acted as if they didn’t see the guests – we waited quite a while, but no one came to seat us, so we ended up sitting down by ourselves. The service took a long time, and we also had to wait longer than expected for our food.
One waitress, in particular, behaved unprofessionally after leaving the table – she made rude faces and mockingly gestured with her hands. The food was average, with some dishes arriving cold. The soups were good, but some main courses were bland, and the schnitzel was too greasy. The overall quality did not match the prices.
Another thing that bothered me was that the waiters placed the cutlery directly on the table without a napkin, which I find unhygienic.
The most pleasant part of the evening was the gentleman playing the accordion – he was the only one who added to the...

A Memorable Dining Experience!
I had the pleasure of dining at Trattlers Einkehr, and it was an experience I won’t soon forget! The restaurant boasts an impressive 139-year legacy of hospitality, and it’s clear why they’ve been so successful for so long. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, making it the perfect spot to enjoy a meal with friends or family.
The service was exceptional—friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. You can feel the rich history and tradition in every corner, yet it’s paired with a modern touch that keeps things fresh and exciting.
The food was simply outstanding. Every dish was crafted with care, using high-quality ingredients that were bursting with flavor. It’s rare to find a place that perfectly balances tradition with innovation, but Trattlers Einkehr does just that.
I highly recommend visiting and experiencing their renowned hospitality for yourself. A must-visit if you're...
