We arrived to Jakob restaurant very cold and in desperate search of food. Our eyes locked onto tomato soup and potato soup that were positioned in the beginning of the menu. My boyfriend also shyly mentioned the pistachio tiramisu which I noticed also, but haven’t yet decided on it. The soups arrived and with the first spoon we were in heaven. The tomato soup shifted my perspective on tomato soups. It felt like an explosion of a summer tomato in my face, and I was thankful. Even Italians can’t make such a flavorful tomato soup. The potato soup was great too, the speck in the soup was crunchy yet at the same time soft and delicate like a skin of a newborn. After our soup experience we decided for a possible blessing of our tastebuds with pistachio tiramisu. We were not at all disappointed. It melted on our tongues like the first snowfall melts on the road in winter. The service was really kind, cooperative, helpful. We both felt like we could say all of our problems out loud and we would not be judged but heard and understood. Anyone who comes to Fuschl must...
Read moreWe were getting hungry in the mid-afternoon, and we stumbled in to this café and restaurant in this lazy lakeside town of Fishul am See. I think large seating area under the umbrellas (photo) drew our attention initially. We opted to sit inside since it was sort of a rainy day and there was some steady breeze.
It seemed they offered many vegetarian options on their menu. Food and service were really good. I really liked my vegetable lasagna in spite of the fact I normally don't prefer vegetarian dishes. Eggplants and zucchinis were flavorful with some onions and mushrooms. My wife liked her very good-looking refreshing salad with tofu and caramelized nuts, too.
Folks around us were mainly having some dessert such as apple strudel and ice cream, or having some afternoon drinks.
It was a very nice find in this small lakeside town as we strolled around with just a few stores and eateries. We were glad we made this stop during our excursion in this...
Read moreI have been in Austria for over a week, and this has been by far the worst restaurant my husband and I have been to. The service was horrible. They put us at a table that had ants all over the table and side table. Waiter wouldn't move us, just brushed them off. Then ordered still water and they gave us mineral water and when we told them it was mineral the waiter argued with us and said it was still, even though it had gas bubbles and we clearly showed him that. We ended up paying for the still water even after they brought us tap water. My husband ordered the steak toast medium and got over well done. He ended up eating half my burger instead which was a lot better. Overall, I'm not quite sure how this restaurant even got a 4.5 star. We have eaten at a few restaurants in town and they were way higher quality in service and food.
Better restaurants in town to eat at! Stay away from this one! Horrible...
