We were a bit unsure about not staying at Salzburg(or Hallstatt) and staying all the way here! ||However, when we arrived, we realised that our decision was great. ||||Staff: ||is great. Katharine at the reception was extremely helping right from the time we booked until we checked out!! They all converse in English and are great help even planning tours around. ||||Location: ||Awesome! Lake in front, green mountains on side and a snow capped mountain in the front beyond the lake. The evenings are great. The snow capped mountain changes the hue every hour and its reflection in the lake... the walk around the lake - roughly 1 hour is also very peaceful and great!!! You should have lots of space in your camera memory card. :) ||||Places around: ||The drive to the place is pretty scenic. Plus the hotel is next to the cable car station. Though we didn't went up here. Hallstatt is just 20 min drive. Salzburg is roughly 1 hour 10 min. You can chose to go via Bad Ischl (a beautiful town) which will be around 1 hour 30 min. ||||Breakfast: was great.||||Wi-Fi is available and good. ||||Only caveat is - they do not have elevator(lift) and hence, if you are heavy on luggage, should plan accordingly. Though they offered us help. ||Also, not all rooms are lake facing, so better check what you are reserving. ||||Room tip: we stayed in comfort triple room on 2nd floor, which was lake facing and has a great view. One other room that we had(triple classic) was on 1st floor - though this one is considered to be lake facing, a part of the view is blocked by the kitchen roof. Hence, my recommendation would be to have room on the lake side on 2nd floor. ||||Also, if you happen to be here in summer, do not miss to observe the start after all lights are closed...

Read moreA great little spot to stop off during our walk around the stunning Gosausee. The location is absolutely spot on — right next to the lake with easy access to parking, so it made perfect sense to pop in for dinner after a day of exploring the area.
The setting itself is beautiful. Sitting down with that mountain backdrop and the stillness of the lake nearby really adds to the whole experience. It feels like the kind of place where you can properly relax and soak in your surroundings after a good walk.
As for the food — a bit of a mixed bag, but still a solid meal overall. I had the chicken schnitzel, which was okay — nothing to shout about, quite plain, but filled the gap. My wife, on the other hand, hit the jackpot with the venison. It was full of flavour, beautifully cooked, and easily the standout dish of the evening.
We also treated ourselves to dessert — can’t quite remember the names of what we ordered, but whatever they were, they were very good. Rich, sweet, and exactly what you want after a long walk and a big main.
Service was friendly and efficient, and the whole place had that relaxed, alpine-lodge vibe. It’s the kind of spot you’d happily sit in for a while, just enjoying the view and a hot meal.
All in all, definitely worth a visit if you're in the area. We’d happily go back — and next time, I’m definitely ordering whatever my wife had.
Just to note - we didn't stay overnight at the hotel, only visited the restaurant, so I can't comment on the rooms. Hopefully next time we'll get the chance to stay and experience the...
