AlteSchmiede — Restaurant in Leogang

Maybe it was a unfortunate, maybe we just got a bad waiter, anyway the experience definitely doesn’t live up to its reputation and prices. Moments after we sat down, the waiter rushed on us with a bad attitude, before we even got to open the menu. We ordered. The food service was really good and we had our meals in about 10 minutes. Can’t say the same about the drinks though. When we were halfway through our meals with a dry throat, we reminded the waiter about our drinks and he finally brought them. Now about the food it self. We ordered mainly pizzas and one schnitzel. The 20€ schnitzel was unedible. I don’t know what kind of meat they have used to make it, but definitely not one I know of. I never knew you can mess up such an easy food, it tasted like cardboard. We ordered two pizzas. When they brought them, one of them was a totally different pizza. We ate it anyway, because we didn’t want to cause a scene and it was pretty delicious. Everything was okay until the waiter noticed that we got a different pizza, and wanted to charge us for the one we ordered, but didn’t get, even though it was more expensive than the one we did eat. When we explained that we will pay for the one we got, he aggressively agreed but gave us a wierd look. I understand that you can mess up an order and it isn’t the end of the world, the main problem here was the attitude of our waiter. Maybe he just had a rough day and I understand that you can’t be always nice to everyone, or maybe it had something to do with his questionable fashion choices, either way it disappointed us and ruined our “lunch time”. (Thanks for answering, I will try to come bach also in winter and eat there and have a great time. And than i will change my impersion for sure. But the review is for the period of time I was there and on all mountain was only one place to eat or relax and drink somethin. And this was at 23°C with best of weather for November. My opinion is that on such a big resort whitch is operational also in summer it is not good for customers to have only one place to go after they have payd for lift. It,s the great Leogang, so I would expect more than one place to be open for busines. And lets not talk about toilet places closed.....another BIG problem there. Our first experience here was great, but the second time wasn’t as positive. We waited for such a long time for food that we eventually gave up waiting and asked for the bill after we’d finished our drinks. Our waiter seemed preoccupied with talking to people at the bar rather than serving. Many people arrived after us and got their food before we did. Prices charged for drinks were different to those on the menu, we were also short changed when we finally got the servers attention to pay. Was a real shame as it’s a great stop on the piste.
