Second time here. Before this visit, we only ordered pizzas. This time, I decided to try their Texas burger. My friends ordered spaghetti bolognese with meat sauce and their seafood pizza.
Burger: The fries are by far the worst part of the meal. Just casual frozen fries from the supermarket, served with the only sauce option (ketchup). Honestly, they would do better to just remove the fries and cut the price. Speaking of price, the burger costs €20. I haven’t had any burgers in Austria before, so I have no idea what’s considered normal, but compared to the pizzas (about €5 cheaper), it doesn’t feel worth it. The burger itself was the most “alright” burger I’ve ever had. One thing I want to point out is the size. It might not seem like it from the photo, but the burger is huge—not tall, just super wide, more like a smash burger. The ingredients are well chosen (egg, cheese, paprika, onion, lettuce…), and it feels fresh. The bun is okay—nothing spectacular, but not terrible. Overall, for the burger, a solid 6/10. It reminded me of the old McDonald’s burgers (on steroids) I occasionally had and liked as a kid. If they cut the fries and lowered the price a bit, it would be a 7/10.
Spaghetti: Nothing really special. What you see is what you get. There’s nothing wrong with it, but I feel like I could make spaghetti like that at home (maybe even better) — 5/10.
Seafood pizza: This is probably the best pizza you can get here. It’s not the best pizza I’ve ever had, but it’s definitely far above average. Compared to the other five I’ve tried here, this is the only one where I thought: yeah, that’s really...
Read moreHow this place has 4 stars is beyond me. Ate here during the low season. Service was slow and poor with no one else in the restaurant to attend to (we ate before normal dinner service).
Staff were not welcoming on arrival and were on their phone at one of the tables. Halfway through dinner, staff again sat down at one of the dining tables to go on their phone (not one but two staff!).
One of our party ordered steak which was not available. Pizza was average. Pasta was far too creamy, with three tiny pieces of chicken included. Dessert took more than 20 minutes to serve (there was no one in the restaurant) and once delivered was the incorrect order. We were not given an apology or explanation. The Incorrect order was taken back and then we were subsequently told our original order was not available (no apology). I suspect this was to try to get us to accept the incorrect dessert they made us instead.. very bad experience.
This restaurant could have had us as repeat customers for our stay in Obertraun every night, but failed miserably....
Read moreWe got there since it was one of the very options, we had for dinner at Obertraun. The pizzas were surprisingly good. However, the service was not that "friendly". Actually, the whole place was full of Austrians/Germans, more specifically it was some kind of team or group and there were making quite some noise. When I asked the lady if there is a table for two, she told me that there is nothing available, and that she can’t do anything. From I come from that’s not very polite. You have to present the customer which are the alternatives and not leave him in the middle of the room without paying any attention to him because you are busy. She could have told us that there is the take away option, or wait at the bar until a table is available and she chose to do none of the above. Fortunately, another employee saved the day by giving us a table at back of the room so we decide to stay. As I have previously mentioned, the food was very good given the...
