Gasthaus Seehäusl — Restaurant in Oetz

We visited Gasthaus Seehäusl twice within a week.

Our first experience was pleasant. We enjoyed the quellefisch char, Tiroler tris, and the delicious plum cake. The schnitzel was a hit with our 6-year-old child. The service was okay, and the shade provided by the trees and umbrellas was much appreciated. However, the constant presence of wasps was a significant issue. We mimicked other guests by using napkins to protect our drinks.

Our second visit was a complete disaster. After waiting an hour for our meal, we had to remind the staff of our order. To our disbelief, they informed us that our order had been lost. We had to reorder. When the food finally arrived, while the main dishes, trout and schnitzels, were good, the side dishes, an over-salted salad and another bland one, were disappointing. The constant presence of wasps, flying around our mouths and getting into our drinks and plates, made the meal experience unbearable. Due to the overall negative experience, we didn't even consider ordering dessert.

The waitress apologized for the loss of our order and the lengthy wait, but we expected a more substantial compensation from the restaurant. Unfortunately, the owner offered no compensation beyond coffees, which we declined.

Very nice place on (lake) Piburger See. Note: bathing is allowed in this lake. If you are coming with the car, you can leave it at Piburgersee Parkplatz (parking). Gasthaus is accessible on foot or bicycle (30ish minutes from the parking spot, easy AND beautiful walk around lake). It is self service establishment (you have to go in and order but they will bring food to you). Food was surprisingly good, especially the rich salad combos (Fischer, Tirolische) that were perfectly fresh! Great choice for people who try to eat healthy even when eating out. Good ice cream too. Be CAREFUL if you are on a schedule. The food was fine but the service was very slow and unwilling or unable to provide accurate information. We waited 75 minutes for the food we ordered after expressly asking them to please hurry because of our deadline and bring told 20-30 minutes. After asking four times about it, we were always told "just a few minutes" so we kept waiting.

Then as we were asking the fifth time. our item finally came, instead of an apology, we were simply asked "well do you want it or not?".
