Gasthaus Brandlwirt — Restaurant in Saalfelden am Steinernen Meer

I had the pleasure to visit this traditional Gasthaus today and loved the regional food. Being Austrian myself from the area but lived 8 years abroad I can judge well about typical Austrian cuisine.

With no doubt this place offers the best traditional food in the city center of Saalfelden, with outstanding customer service this family run place is the best address for single travellers, couples and families. A friendly designed beer garden invites you to have a scenic view to the mountains. A traditional but light decorated guestroom invites you to stay inside and enjoy. 3 tables are also available in the inner side at the backside of the building.

The Gastwirt (0wner) served us himself, and his lovely wife manges the kitchen, really well. We had semolina dumpling soup, and liver knoedel soup as starters. My wife opted for vegetarian kasnocken with salad, and myself I had a delicate deer schnitzel. My little one had noodles, with drinks all together we didnt spend more than 50 Euro. That was well worth it.

Being in a traditional place might have some suprises for you, in our case a hen party joined us with lots of fun and traditional music, just when we finished our meal. Our little girl loved the local music and danced with it.

Will be back there, thats for sure. So far, that place is my number...

What google does not tell you is Gasthaus Brandlwirt is closed from 14:00-17:00 for “siesta” don’t go there in these times.

When you do go at 17:00 maybe try calling and reserving a table, because they are always full booked and not like a good/thoughtful restaurant they don’t keep even 1 table “free for walk-ins”. We went at 14:30 to return at 17:15 and left hungry to look for other place to eat. Comedy of a place.

Du kennst Hotels in den tolle Sprüche an der Wand stehen, die aber nur an der Wand stehen und nicht gelebt werden? Im Brandlwirt erlebst Du das Gegenteil! Ich durfte während eines Seminars in Saalfelden vom 22.08. - 28.08. Gast im Brandlwirt sein und es war jedes Mal schade wenn ich abends Programm hatte und nicht in meinem "Wohnzimmer" abends essen konnte, dabei ging es mir nicht nur um das ausgezeichnete Essen sondern ebnso um die absolute Wohlfühlatmosphäre. Es hat sich mit der Zeit rumgesprochen und so waren wir am zweiten Abend ca. 20 Gäste die die Herzlichkeit alle ebenfalls bestätigt hatten. Wenn ich mich abends auf mein top ausgestattetes Zimmer in den zweiten Stock zurück gezogen habe, habe ich schon die Vorfreude auf das außerordentliche Frühstück gefreut, kleiner Tipp an alle Gäste bestellt ein gekochtes Ei, dann beginnt der Tag zu 100% mit einem Lächeln!||Es klingt jetzt alles nach einer gekauften Bewertung und ich selber wäre bestimmt selbst auch skeptisch eine solch positive Bewertung zu lesen, aber was soll man machen wenn alles einfach zu 100% paßt als es weiter zu sagen? Denn sind wir mal ehrlich man spricht (und bewertet) meist nur wenn es etwas nicht gepasst hat und selten wenn es gepasst hat. Und das hat es beim Brandlwirt zu 100%! Auch für den Sport am Morgen eignet sich der Brandlwirt hervorragend, da der Ritzensee in unmittelbarer Nähe liegt.||||Ich sage abschließend nur noch so viel ich komme sicher wieder und empfehle jedem einen Besuch, sei es über Nacht oder "nur" zum Essen!||||P.S.
