La Galeria — Restaurant in Steyr

The service here was so bad we felt the need to write a review. We were here for dinner this night. The food was good, the atmosphere was ok despite the cobwebs on the ceiling lamps- liked the paintings on the wall, but the service from the male waiter was shocking. I've never had such bad service in my life- not even from old waiters in Viennese cafes. He was also a young waiter (not very tall, with not very straight teeth). He showed a disgruntled attitude the moment we entered, and gave us the impression that we were not welcomed there. We felt like we had to apologize for not making a reservation before coming. However, we were seated as there were free seats. The service got better when we were served by other waiters. When we did not get the bill after asking for it twice (we were in a hurry to go to the movies), we got up to pay at the counter and were met with the same unfriendly male waiter. I was left speechless and amazed at his rudeness when he just gave me the bill and turned his face away after I paid, standing at the same spot without thanking me as a customer for coming, or bidding us goodbye. Regardless of how his day was, that was no way to treat a customer. That was so disrespectful I started to think if he was racist and didn't like the fact that I was Asian. Amazing experience! Surprised to read negative comments on here. We were being treated very well and all staff were very friendly. The young waiter did forget the Speck on my pizza and did not know what Kürbiskernöl (pumpkin seed oil) was or whether they had it, but he might have just started working there so no big deal. We were 4 people for lunch and each had a main, 2 salads, 5 drinks, and 3 affogatos for dessert. The basilicum risotto with shrimp that I had and the carpaccio with arugula, pesto and parmesan cheese were absolutely fantastic! A real pleasure to enjoy. The service was really great too, with total attention to my gluten intolerance.
