Leopoldauer Alm — Restaurant in Vienna

January 2023: After years of prolonging to go back again, finally managed to do so again. Every now and then they have specials. You can find the dates on their website. The Thursday I was there they had all you can eat spareribs for 26 euro as a special which included potato wedges, two delicious sauces, baked onion rings and a huge stack of ribs. You could keep reordering the complete plate or specific parts of it for the same price. Friendly staff. Extremely hot inside. Fair prices for drinks. Ribs were very decent. Not awesome, but certainly tasty. Decent free WiFi. You just have to provide some dummy email address to get access.

It's a 5 to 10 minute walk from the nearest S bahn train station. From the city center to here by public transport will take you about 30 minutes all together.

November 2019: Excellent food and prices. Large quantities. Took the platter for two to share. I'm a big eater and we finished it all but it was surely enough. Especially the veal schnitzel and porkchop stuck out in yummyness. Their own dark beer is also delicious if you're a fan of...

I had booked a table for 17.30 but then our pland changed and I called that we are coming later. Man on the phone approved me and told that we can come at 20. So we went there and we waited for like 15 minutes in the reception (yes there is a reception becausr it is huge) and then this lady showed up and was very rude with us, she said that she cannot give us a table and "you can as well just leave" But we decided to wait a bit and we got a table and a nice waitress. So, we ordered the sharing meat platter for 4 people (wr had 5 people) and the portion was HUUUGEEE, I think 10 people would have gotten full out of this variety. They are willingly helping you to pack everything because no one is ever capable of finishing the dishes. It was insane. So we got to eat shnitzel for whole weekend. Endlich wieder ein Gaumenerlebnis!

Nach zwei kulinarischen Enttäuschungen war es höchste Zeit für ein ehrliches Stück Wirtshauskultur – und siehe da: Die Leopoldauer Alm hat geliefert. Endlich ein Lokal, das weiß, wie man den Gast nicht nur satt, sondern auch zufrieden macht.

Ambiente & Service

Urig, freundlich, einladend – die Atmosphäre passt. Man fühlt sich als Familie willkommen, nicht wie ein lästiger Tisch, der abgefertigt werden muss. Die Bedienung? Zuvorkommend, aber nicht aufgesetzt. Sympathisch und ehrlich.

Der kulinarische Ablauf:

Vorspeise: Leberknödelsuppe

Großer Leberknödel, kräftige Rindsuppe, heiß serviert – genau so muss das sein. Keine lasche Brühe, kein Convenience-Klumpen, sondern Geschmack und Substanz. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Hauptspeise: Hühnerschnitzel-Platte für Zwei mit Reis & gemischtem Salat

Ein Wort: WOW. Die Portion? Großzügig bis herausfordernd. Die Hühner-Wiener knusprig, saftig, perfekt gewürzt. Der Reis – frisch gekocht, serviert in einer charmanten „Großmutter-Tasse“, nicht irgendein liebloser Kloß. Der gemischte Salat – ein oft vernachlässigter Nebendarsteller – dieses Mal mit echtem Charakter: frisches Dressing, nicht aus der Flasche, und ein Krautsalat, der handgehobelt und NICHT aus der Dose kommt. Ein Statement! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Nachspeise: Nusspalatschinke mit Schokosoße & Vanilleeis

Ein würdiger Abschluss. Die Palatschinke fluffig, die Nussfülle aromatisch, die Schokosoße ein Genuss – und das Eis? Kein wässriger Standard, sondern angenehm cremig. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨

Digestif: Himbeer-Schnaps

Krönender Abschluss mit einem klaren, fruchtigen Himbeerschnapserl. Nicht zu scharf, nicht zu süß – einfach genau richtig. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨

Fazit: 4+ von 5 Sternen

Ein Ort für alle, die ehrliche, bodenständige Küche schätzen – mit Geschmack, Herz und ordentlichen Portionen. Perfekt für Familien, hungrige Genießer und jene, die sich über das bloße Sattwerden hinaus erfreuen wollen.

Kritischer Nachsatz – Verbesserungspotenzial: • Preise: Der Wirt möge nicht vergessen – wir sind in Wien, nicht im Gourmettempel eines Haubenkochs. Ein wenig preisliche Zurückhaltung würde der Bodenständigkeit des Lokals guttun. • App-System: Leider ein Reinfall. Das digitale Bon-Scannen ist kaum praktikabel – maximal zweimal pro Tag ist schlicht zu wenig. Hier wäre technische Nachbesserung dringend zu empfehlen, sonst bleibt’s beim Ärger statt beim Bonus

Empfehlung: Wer Hunger hat, echten Geschmack sucht und sich in einem urigen Wirtshaus wohlfühlen will, ist hier richtig. Die Leopoldauer Alm ist kein hipper Szene-Hotspot – sondern ein ehrlicher Genussort, und das ist heutzutage...
