Taverna Kreta — Restaurant in Vienna

Real souvlaki in Vienna. Really good meat (only pork) if a bit salty. One pita gyros costs 3.50 € but is definitely worth the taste. Only downside is that they used to make them bigger and 1 was usually more than enough. I got 5 pitas today to share with friends and they looked tiny. A pity cause I really wanted to show off. Maybe the managers will realise as they used to that quantity + quality is the key and everyone will come running So far I haven't found anything similar in Vienna. Thanasi please advice your staff to use more meat as you used to do once before and my rating (as well as everyone else's)...

This is not the best gyros in town. It is even substandard with quality. The meat is over-seasoned to kill the real smell or stench, judge it yourself, the fries as they are, they are not salty, but it's a matter of taste. But 2 x gyros, 2 x fries and 2 x coca cola €27. Funny. Conclusion, the price-quality ratio is far below average. I am totally dissatisfied and will not come to eat there again.Of course i didn't...

Bin durch Zufall in die Taverne gekommen, weil ich an der Ampel Hernalser/Wattgasse warten musste und den appetitlichen Drehspieß sah; Keiner vom Großmarkt sondern hausgemacht.

Ich bestellte mir einen Pita Gyros. Ein überwältigendes Geschmackserlebnis: das Pita resch und noch mit Knoblauch bestrichen, Tzaziki, Tomaten und das saftige, gschmackige Gyros. Genial!

Dazu nahm ich noch einen kleinen Griechischen Bauernsalat, der auch keine Wünsche offenließ. Der Schafkäse und das Olivenöl authentisch und sehr gut.

Das Lokal ist nicht groß, was es aber auch sehr gemütlich und persönlich macht. Einzig störend ist der Gassenverkauf, der im vorderen Bereich des Lokals stattfindet. Dies ist ein Taubenschlag. Aber wen wundert es bei dieser Qualität und dazu normalen Preisen.

Sehr freundliche Mitarbeiter und Chef runden das Gesamtbild der Taverne überaus positiv ab.

Ich war heute sicher nicht das letzte mal dort.

Zu dem diesem Lokal und der Authentizität gratuliere ich dem Chef - und das auch noch inmitten der Kebab-Hochburg Wiens. Qualität setzt...
