Had dinner at wake_up after a nice evening wakeboard session, what a great way to spend a summer evening in Vienna!
Location and atmosphere ✨ Great views on the cable and amazing sunset vibe. Got a table without reservation (at around 8:30pm), but if you wanna have dinner at an earlier time I guess it’s better to reserve in advance as the terrace can get crowded on a warm summer evening. Very clean and relaxed atmosphere, fancy but also casual (we went in with wet hair after wakeboarding).
Food and drink 🍔🍸 Very simple but diverse menu, I’m sure there is something for everyone! A variation of drinks, snacks, burgers, salads, etc. We had the wake-up burger with sweet potato fries and the chicken salad. Both very good and reasonable portions. But the highlight was definitely the burger: delicious combination with feta, probably one of the best burgers we had in Vienna! Wine and lemon soda were also good, finally a lemon soda with a strong taste of fresh lemon, love it.
Service 👨🍳 The food wasn’t only great but also arrived super quickly. The staff has been very friendly and polite from the start. Offered us a nice table with great view, served quickly and seemed to be enjoying talking to guests. Big plus in terms of hospitality!
Definite recommendation - especially if you’re into wakeboarding. A nice dinner after a great sunset sesh, what could be...
Read moreIt is the only wakeboard cablerail in Vienna and honestly for such a great city I was expecting much much more. Few disadvantages include : -Not accessible by car (you have to walk from parking lot like 700m) -No place to lay down (no sunbeds) and even if you bring your own there is no nice place to place it. That makes it very uncomfortable to come let's say with girlfriend and spend entire day there. -Only let's say comfortable place to sit is the overpriced restaurant where you're obligated to buy drinks and food in order to stay seated. -don't expect much from the shop either. I only saw like 3 boards in total for sale which only one was my size and the prices are not exactly cheap.
I don't wanna complain too much about prices since Vienna is generally one of the more expensive cities but I would definitely expect something much much cooler in Vienna than this wake park. If you go just 60km over to Bratislava the level of total experience gets much higher and for less money. There you can actually spend the entire day from morning to evening doing various activities while laying on a king size sunbed in front of the wake park.
I really hope they will do some additional investment over here in Vienna so I won't have to travel for great...
Read moreThis is a wonderful location overlooking the water and the wakeboard activities. It’s well laid out in tiers allowing a great view from most tables. I can’t say enough about the friendly staff. Our waiter was welcoming, cheerful, polite and just plain funny. His support staff was also good and professional with their duties. The food was acceptable, but not the star. Several dishes: carpaccio, shrimp in garlic oil, and the salmon were very nice with both presentation and flavor. Conversely, the steak was a disaster, requesting medium rare it was delivered well done. Upon second attempt it was served rare, but the bed of vegetables were also reserved, now dried out and overdone. The gnocchi with Chantelle mushrooms was better. The mushrooms were perfect, the pasta was boiled a bit too long and had lost the al dente mark. The deserts were good, with some creativity by that outstanding waiter which helped cover the main dish issues. This is my 3rd visit, and I would recommend most people stick with the simple menu items, burgers, salads, bowls, nachos, etc. The kitchen executes them well, the more complex not so much. That all said - it’s a fun place and worth the walk...
