Updating with a full review per the request below, even though I suspect he already knows full well of the problem. This is a further extension of the attitude of the customer always being in the wrong and being an inconvenience that we experienced on Wednesday night.
Firstly, to preface the review, we have been to Costiera multiple times in the past with friends, and had a really good experience. This is precisely why I chose to have my birthday dinner with my husband there, as I wanted to go somewhere with good food and a relaxed atmosphere. Unfortunately our experience was exactly the opposite. I don't know what was wrong on Wednesday night, I suspect they were overbooked and extremely stressed, but to transfer this onto the customers in this way is completely unacceptable.
Please don't tell me that we should have tried to talk to staff as if we didn't. We repeatedly tried to talk to them, and we were repeatedly shouted at.
Here is an objective breakdown of our experience:
We called to make a reservation, we were told they were fully booked until 8:30pm, but we could have a table then. This was fine for us, so we made the booking. We arrived at 8:30pm and told the women at the door we had our reservation, she didn't say any words to us, just aggressively shook her head and walked away from us. We stood for around 10 minutes not knowing what was happening, and eventually we were taken to our table. They rushed a drinks order from us and gave us menus. Within 2 minutes they tried to take our order, we weren't ready yet so we asked for a few more minutes. The gentleman came back within 2 minutes, at this point it was 8:50pm. We started to try and order a starter, to which he shouted "NO! ONLY 1-gang! NO TIME. Kitchen closes in 10 minutes." I should note here that it clearly says on their website that they are open until 10:30pm, and this was not mentioned at booking, arrival, or seating at the table. I tried to raise this with the waiter, but he just shrugged. So we ordered a single course in a rush, my husband order some pasta and seafood, and I ordered a pizza. The pasta dish arrived, but we continued to wait for the pizza for over 5 minutes. Which was eventually thrown on the table. Unfortunately at this point I realised that the pizza I had ordered had uncooked salami on it - at 6 months pregnant unfortunately I am unable to eat this (as much as I'd like to). This wasn't stated on the menu - I appreciate that I did order it, but mistakes do happen. My husband went to go and try and find the waiter to explain the issue, instead of listening to him, he came storming over to the table for another unpleasant exchange directed at me. I tried to explain to him why pregnant women can't eat this, to which he just shouted at me "WHY? You ordered it". Before I could try and explain any more, he stormed off to go and get the menu for I don't know what. By this point we'd really had enough, so we just left. We also tried to explain why on the way out, but again he was not interested.
I'd suggest that in this case a 1 star review is absolutely not "something stupid" as suggested by the owner in his comment below. Neither my husband nor I have ever left a restaurant mid meal like this, but this kind of experience was just not acceptable. Whatever was going on in the kitchen or between staff should remain there. They didn't have to accept our booking, and we could have happily gone somewhere else if they'd just told us the kitchen was closing early.
So thanks for making my quiet birthday meal one to forget, on the tail of a really bad 18 months for all of us. We won't come back, and we'll be recommending that our friends...
Read moreI was so happy to be at this restaurant the atmosphere was so nice. But the longer we were sitting there the more we had the feeling that it is getting chaotic. After starters a friend ordered a salad with grilled tuna as a main dish. This salat came 30min before other main dishes and not with a grilled tuna but with out of the can tuna. Ok we thought to ourselves we will not complicate - mistakes can happen. But after a long waiting other dishes came - for my boyfriend again not what he ordered. He ordered Linguine with prawns and received Linguine with scampi. When we asked what happened the answer from the manager was: we are out of prawns but scampi is much more expensive than the prawns? I ordered gnocchi with different sea food which included scallops. At the time of the order I was being told that they are out of scallops and that they will be replaced with some other sea food. For me this was completely fine. But at the end I didn't receive anything. After one hour of waiting I was being told that there is no food for me. The manager offered to prepare some other dish but at this point I have already lost my apetite. The manager was repeating all the time that this is a big exception that this happened to us, that normally this never happens. After reading the low rated reviews I would say it happens a lot and there is something wrong with the organisation. I didn't write all the details - already what I wrote is more than enough. I wouldn't recommend...
Read moreWe have family in Austria and was told to visit this restaurant which was local to our hotel.
This place is great! Atmosphere is amazing but the staff are also really friendly. They know what they’re doing and what they’re talking about.
We where served by Andria Punchilli I think that's how his name is spelled, he took his time and explained everything in English which really help, you can tell making the customers happy is their main priority. We also greeted by a lovely lady at the counter, she was so friendly who made us all feel really welcomed.
Food was excellent as it is an italian restaurant and the classics with some twists. My children absolutely loved the food.
From the pictures below you can see that I decided to go for the Sea Beam which explained to me was an Italian classic so I decided to go for it, what a choice it was absolutely delicious.
Excellent place to visit and hopefully if we have time we will be going back again.
Keep up the...
