My experiences at Chamung Restaurant & Eco Cafe have been disappointing, despite its eco-friendly reputation. I visited twice, hoping for a pleasant family dining experience, but both visits were marred by neglectful service. On my first visit with my kids and family, we arrived at night, we waited 30 minutes for a table. Once seated, it took over an hour for our food to arrive, but served rice and dal cold. During this wait, staff appeared inattentive, prioritizing foreign guests over local families. On my second visit the following night, I encountered similar issues. After waiting for a table, I was informed that the one we sat at was reserved, even though there was no indication of this. After moving to another table, I was asked to change again to a smaller one, which felt embarrassing. Once more, it took an hour to serve simple ‘Dal-Bat.’ This continuous neglect led me to leave without dinner, feeling unwelcome and frustrated. Read moreNestled in the calm lanes of eco resorts of Radhanagar, Sreemangal, Chamung is a traditional restaurant that lives up to its name — “Chamung” means tasty in the Tripuri language, and that’s exactly what it delivers.
The dishes carry a rich, homely taste with authentic Tripura-style influence. Each bite feels carefully crafted — flavorful without being overwhelming. The ambiance is equally noteworthy — peaceful, rooted in traditional decor, and ideal for slow, soulful dining.
The sitting area is comfortable, with a touch of rustic charm that complements Sreemangal’s natural vibe. Though the place leans a little toward the pricier side, the overall feel compensates for it.
Staff behavior is polite and welcoming, which adds warmth to the experience. The only drawback is the service time — it may take around 35–40 minutes for your food to arrive. But if you're not in a rush, it’s worth the wait.
Overall Verdict: A great spot for those who want to explore traditional flavors in a calm, soothing setting. Take your time, relax, and enjoy the...
Read moreI recently visited this eco-friendly restaurant and was blown away by the experience. The service was exceptional, and the staff was warm and welcoming. The taste of the local food (We tried Chicken shatkora, Alu/begun/tomatto bhorta, Tarka dal, Rui Bhuna, Arabian friend rice, Chicken masala curry, Cashew nut salad, Lacchi, Chocolate cold coffee, Local green tea) was exceptional, and I could feel that the ingredients were fresh and sourced locally. The eco-decorations were amazing and gave me a sense of peace and tranquility. The environment was peaceful, and the garden view all around was breathtaking. The staff was knowledgeable and had a great attitude towards their work. One of the owner Mr.Dash was extremely helpful and full of local knowledge. If anyone plan to visit this place, must meet him to solve any of your travel issues. Overall, I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for an eco-friendly dining experience that combines great taste, ambiance, and a commitment to reducing its...
