As part of our tour of Bangladesh, we could say that after the Sunderbans, this was the highlight of our holiday. After seeing litter, poverty, pollution, we were treated to lush scenery, vast tea plantations, green forests and small, busy towns. Arriving at the Eco resort, the accommodation was perfect - rural and yet fitted with comfort in mind, even wifi and electricity, but exposed to mosquitoes! There was a hammock to drift to sleep in while listening to the birds, monkeys, wolves (late at night) and the chattering squirrels.||Nets were provided over the comfy bed and the staff would spray the room while you had dinner. It does get chilly at night, but the blankets were heavy and pinned your body to the bed!||Breakfast and dinner were freshly prepared and we could see the cook preparing it all with a roaring fired oven. We enjoyed the experience so much that we asked to stay an extra night and glad we did. The hotel manager (Shakir?) was a lovely guy and couldn't do enough to make our stay as pleasant as possible. It turns out that he and our guide, Russel, are directors of the hotel business including a new resort down the road that we all went to for a BBQ. The food was great, the hotel chalets look super with lots of trees and a stream running by, together with its own flood lit badminton court. We all played a few games but were beaten by the locals (but they were half our age!).||There are some shops close by and places to eat but we didn't try those. Its also very conveneinet to go for a walk through paddy fields and speak to the friendly locals who love to practise their English!||If we're coming to Bangladesh, this is definitely on our...
Read moreSurprisingly, this resort is my favorite one in Sreemangal! It might seem surprising, because there is a huge quantity of hotels & resorts in Sreemangal with lot more amenities, facilities, greater selection of services and with larger areas.
Compared to them, this tiny little eco-resort with only one mud house, a couple of thatched cottage & a/c rooms, a little pond all within a small area might not seem very much to care about.
But somehow this place has peace, the thing we all need the most! Its like a reminder that for spending a good time we don't need all that amenities & services always. This place gives you the feel of going back to your own village, back to your roots. This small area is surrounded by greeneries, huge lichi trees (thus the name-lichibari eco resort), hammock tied between trees beside the natural pond. The cottages and the mud house will remind you of your village home. Staffs are so friendly and caring that you will feel that you are spending time with your friends and families. And the taste of their food cooked in matir chula by the experienced chef will instantly take you back to your childhood memory lane. In cold winter nights, under the shades of the large trees their carefully prepared Bar-B-Q chicken/fish will taste heavinly....and all of these you will find within a very affordable price range compared to others.
This place might be small but they always came up with great hospitality which was very hard to match!
Yes, they definitely have some room to level up but like the times I have visited them in the past, I won't mind going back there again for just as it is...
Read moreSeeing its cottage like appearance I got attracted to have this one for our night stay in Sreemangal this time in July 2016. We got a room with 2 beds (1 double, 1 single) in the Dhonesh Cottage and lived in that very room together with my 2 sons and my wife. ||The cottage was made of wood and bamboo. And, the room was a non AC room and good enough for our purpose. The bathroom was a good sized and clean one with necessary amenities. Towel, bed, linen and cusion, everything smelt fresh despite of the humid weather during the season. A great sized veranda facing the entrance side was good enough for spending liesure hours.||Outside the cottage there were two hammocks and my kids and I, we enjoyed spending idle time on them. Breakfast is included with the bed, but too modest that comes up with flour made loves, egg omelet, vegetable and small local bananas and tea. However, it would be good to have something more..! This cottage got two good branded bicycles (Veloce Legion and Raliegh) and they let me use one... thanks for that..! Like many other resorts, that cycle needs to be repaired and maintained well.||The staff were good, service was good too.. price was fine 3,000 taka for one night..! Management was very good, in fact excellent, specially the Mr. Parvez managed my accommodation and soo early morning arrival is worth huge...
