JAGOS LOUNGE by Chef Glam — Restaurant in Barbados

Just had an amazing night at Chef Glams pop up restaurant in Paynes Bay. From the moment we walked into the garden which is stunning, and were greeted by the matriarch of the family I knew we would have a great night. The family are all involved mum meeting and greeting and working the bar the daughter is Chef Glam cooking in the kitchen, son Sam is singing, grand daughter taking orders and bringing out food. A true family affair.

We had walked by the sign on the main road a few times and as it is only open on a Friday night and Saturday lunch we decided to give it a go this evening. Chef Glam is also one of the only places we have found so far with all the details you need to plan a night out online. Check out her instagram (Chefglambarbados)for her WhatApp number, opening times etc. I had sent a message in the day to find out the menu options for the night and had a near instant response which was great.

Lots to choose from but we went with the combo plate. This is a protein, side dish and complementary salad for $28BBD amazing value.

We also had dessert, something I have found lacking so far in the restaurants we have visited. A beautiful Dulce con leche cupcake. A 2 course dinner with a rum punch for less than $50BBD per person. That’s about £40 for two people. Locals came and went throughout the night to pick up their orders so it must be good food. If you are visiting the area when she is open give it a go. It’s just up a little side road off the main road, near to bus stops so easy to get to.

Hi Chef Glam, my sister-in-law introduced us to your lounge last night and we had THE BEST time. It’s been a while since my spouse and I have been back to the island but I remember her complimenting your place after their first visit 2 years ago and my goodness, you and your family did not disappoint. We loved arriving earlier- everyone was so very welcoming. The cocktails were unmatched, each one we tried was better than the last. The food went straight to my heart- I don’t get much Bajan food at home since my grandparents passed, and haven’t had that kind of gravy on rice since my childhood- I almost cried while I was eating it 😊 We’ll definitely be back before we fly home, but I just wanted to extend a heartfelt thank you for creating such a wonderful and welcoming place. Tucked away just off the main road / highway 1 near Beach View is this sweet spot.

Dinning is upstairs. Menu is short and sweet. They have this great ‘date night platter’ which is great for two people sharing, though a bit clumsy without side plates.

The food was delicious however and portions fully adequate.

Side note though is that the coleslaw is very sweet!

There’s an extensive menu of different and exotic Rum Punches. We ordered a few different ones including the classic one. All are very heavy in the sugar so be warned.

The bar is not well stocked so vodka and beer were not available the night we went.

We would go back but may consider take out next time.
