Jake's Barbados — Restaurant in Barbados

Visited Jake's last night for after dinner drinks in the outside courtyard with my husband. We were met by a very unfriendly young lady to be told we were not allowed to sit outside and must go inside. We explained we were not dining and would like a table outside for drinks. None of the tables outside under the canopy were set for dinner and it wasn't very busy. Her explanation was it might rain even though we could see others enjoying a drink in the outside area with plenty of tables free under the canopy. Eventually she agreed we could take a table outside. After waiting a while for a drinks menu we noticed others waiting to order. The two girls seemed very uninterested chatting to each other at the bar we didn't get offered a menu and nobody acknowledged us for at least 15 mins. We were just starting to think about leaving when two large groups who were already seated when we arrived got up to leave complaing they had been waiting 30 mins to order. Just as we were all leaving the bar at the same time the girl came running out from the inside bar to see her potential customers leaving. We will certainly not return to Jake's bar or recommend this bar to others when there are so many nice bars in the area that would...

Dined here today for a late lunch. When we arrived there was just one other occupied table. We ordered Nachos for starters which looked lovely but arrived barely luke warm. The restaurant was basically empty so I couldn’t understand this. I ordered Philly Cheesesteak fries, which was fine; albeit too many fries. My companion ordered Yard Bird Street Thighs which she said were tasty enough but consisted of ONE very small boneless chicken thigh. I asked if this was the norm as on the menu it clearly says THIGHS, I was told yes. Come on Jake’s, chicken isn’t that expensive, especially considering the size that you’re serving. They did offer a free drink, however she politely said ‘no thanks’. After deciding that she wanted a dessert, she was promptly informed that this would not be complimentary. Please note we never asked for either to be complimentary and was quite taken aback when this was blurted out. My companion still had the dessert which was just OK. We suggested that they should let customers know they’ll only be receiving only one piece of chicken, or, add another small thigh so that it coincides...

Great casual Restaurant. Friendly staff, nice menu. Fairly priced. Reasons for 4 stars now reducrd to 2 stars - - Its Barbados and no Pepper Sauce, also No Peppercorn Sauce for steak (its on the menu) , and my perennial No Old Brigand Rum.☠ I've had to reduce my rating for this restaurant from 4 stars to 2 stars. Went for dinner on 10th Sept 2022. Was seated at 8.30pm managed at last at 9.15pm to order a drink and obtain a menu. Dinner arrived for two of us about 30 minutes later - they had forgotten to prepare my wife's order. It was now 9.45pm. Eat our meal - wife's turned up around 10.00pm - and then sat for about 20 minutes waiting on our table to be cleared and offered dessert. This never happened. At 10.30pm ( been in the restaurant for 2 hours now ) I had to get up and go to the Concierge desk to request by Bill. Frankly I could have walked out of the restaurant without paying and I don't think anybody would have noticed. I don't think I will ever patronize this place again. They are inadequately staffed and what staff they have are...
