Chefette is a Barbados original that is worth a stop. The number of choices is quite diverse for a fast food joint, and I love that they have somethings you won’t find at any other chain. Their fried chicken is excellent. This visit, I tried some rotis and I think it’s my new favourite Chefette item. It won’t match some of the independent places on the island but the roti had a nice curry flavour and was quite hefty despite appearing small. One of these on its own will take care of your hunger, and the fully contained nature of the roti make it perfect on the go or at the beach. Their crinkle cut fries are also nice and are perfectly salted. Burgers are not the focus of the chain, so I wouldn’t go in here looking to compare to the many chains in the US or Canada. Chefette was a pretty average dinner experience. I got the leg dinner which had three chicken leg drums, a small fry, and then a small dinner roll. Chefette also offers fish, burgers, and pizza but out of those options chicken seemed to be the best. But to be honest the chicken was honestly pretty flavorless and the fries were also not very craveable. But the best part of my meal was definitely the "thick shake". I got the vanilla flavor and and was really great! However I would not recommend the strawberry flavor because is was made with a red goopy syrup and did not contain any real strawberries. For other dessert option they also offer hard serve ice cream or three types of pies. As I walked in, I noticed that there were a lot of orders. In my mind, I thought it was a very busy location, and orders were coming in. I was surprised as to how everything was ready so quickly; it was soon apparent that everything was stale. They seemed like they had prepared everything beforehand to make it easier on themselves. The fries were quite cold, as well as the wings. Beef roti was warm, though (I purchased a chicken wing box? And beef roti). Unfortunately, I didn't say anything to the staff since I didn't know how to deal with the situation (it was a first for me). After I spoke to someone local, they mentioned this wasn't usually the case.
