I don’t write a lot of reviews to be honest, however I felt compelled to write a 5 ⭐️ review. We took a chance on eating at the Brasserie Du Moulin after reading what were quite bad reviews in Trip Advisor, it had been a very long day of driving and I just didn’t want to get back in the car and drive miles (it’s across the road from the hotel) Firstly, let’s be clear, it’s a brasserie, it isn’t pretending to be a silver service “haute cuisine” restaurant. There is no pretence at all in fact, they are offering great quality food and friendly attentive service at an elevated level (above a bistro or cafe)
We decided to share the rib eye (Irish on the bone) which came with salad and fries. They asked how we wanted it cooked (medium rare) and that is exactly how it came to the table, the salad was as you’d expect in any brasserie in France or Belgium as were the fries. The meat was delicious and flavourful and everything we wanted. We had 4 beers in total with it , and were delighted to see the local Maredsous Blonde on tap at a very reasonable price of €5. I had dessert and coffee as well, and altogether it came to €114 which I personally feel is what you should expect to pay for that cut of beef, dessert and drinks. I really do recommend this place as someone who has travelled extensively and dined in restaurants, Brasseries and less formal eateries...
Read moreDisappointing. We booked a table at 18:30 for 2 adults and 2 children. They came very fast to take the order for drinks and food however our food arrived at 19:45 only after we asked what is happening and why does it take so long. We ordered desserts at 20:05 and while 3 of them came very fast the last one came almost at 21 and only after again we signaled it. Even the waiter said it was bizarre. While I understand its not the fault of the waiters I would have expected more empathy from their side but instead we felt that they were avoiding us instead of dealing with the issue. At the end when we wanted to pay we also realized they charged us full price while my partner took one of their menus choosing for main course and dessert. They said only appetizer and main course would have been part of the menu but there is no where mentioned this. Although the food was good the overall experience was awful. Our two children were also hungry and did not understand why it would...
