Bar Brul — Restaurant in Antwerp

As an ambassador for Fine Bars and Fine Dining, I must express my disappointment with the service I received today at Bar Brul. On a beautiful afternoon, an ideal time to enjoy the terrace, I was met with surprisingly unfriendly and gruff service. It has left me wondering whether this experience was influenced by certain aspects of my appearance or merely a reflection of an unfortunate mood. Regardlless of the reason, such treatment is wholly unacceptable,....especially for an establishment with a positive reputation. Although Bar Brul is not a three-star venue, its reviews suggest a level of hospitality that should never fall below a standard of professionalism and respect. Nice bar/pub right next to the 'Te Boelaerpark' . A few pointers to start off: only cash is accepted here, so before entering I suggest withdrawing some money from the bank across the street. At the same time there's no service at the tables so don't wait around. On the other hand: service behind the bar is friendly, quick and helpful, prices for beer are fair and the offer likewise. In summer Bar Brul boasts a large outdoor area. It's not a cosy place as many Belgian bars are, but at the same time this could be exactly why you should come here: finally some room to sit down with some friends instead of more cramped places. It looks as if they host some gigs from time to time, but I can't attest to...

This is our Wednesday evening haunt for the gals. 7pm is deceptively empty. Wait till 9 or 10pm. So get there early enough. Nice range of drinks. Good seating place for a cozy couple, you want to meet up with 4s or even for a large group, there's enough place for all. Nearly situated bang opposite the boelaar park. Jog and then head for the bar....
