Casa Nostra — Restaurant in Aywaille

Very unfriendly place. We have an eight and four year old and tried to order a pizza for them to share. We have done this in numerous other restaurants in the region, without any problems. This has nothing to do with money, just that we know how little our children eat and ordering more phases them. We were told that we should order two children's pizzas instead as they are small. The meal arrived and the child's pizzas were in fact huge, approaching adult sized. This spurned a debate which lead to our waitress conceding it was policy not to allow sharing. When the bill arrived it transpired that child pizzas were only 1 euro less than an adults. We expressed disappointment to the manager and her explanation included reason that times were hard and they have bills to pay such as lighting etc. If this doesn't tell everything one should know about this establishment. Simply, they are not about good friendly, smart, accommodating service, which encourages repeat business. They are about maximising profit to the detriment of making a customer feel welcome. We paid and left and won't be returning. Poor, poor service. I would argue if times are hard, the intelligent play would be to be better, not try to fleece all you can from clients. We eat out a lot in this region and have many friends. For the sake of a few euros they have lost...

The food was amazing, we had the pasta carbonara and the spicy pizza, both great and I can truly say it was one of the best pizzas I’ve ever had and the tiramisu that we took back home with us because we were too full, was also so incredibly tasty. The service was excellent and both waiters that served us were incredibly nice and even though we don’t speak French, they gave their best to speak English to us and accommodate us! The staff seemed a little bit overwhelmed with too many customers as to why we had to wait almost an hour for our main courses (after the starters) but as an apology we got a very tasty amaretto on the house and we were able to pack our order for takeaway.
