During my recent trip to Blankenberge, I had the pleasure of dining at Hippocampe, and I can't say enough good things about this gem of a restaurant! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm smiles and a welcoming atmosphere that instantly set the tone for a fantastic evening.

The menu is a delightful mix of fresh seafood, local specialties, and classic Belgian dishes. Everything we ordered was presented beautifully and tasted even better! The seafood platter was an absolute highlight, brimming with the freshest mussels, shrimp, and crab that melted in our mouths. Party of four, various starters inc feta in filo & cheese croquettes, then 3x chicken souvlaki & a mixed grill. All absolutely first rate, we (4x English) don't speak a word of flemish between us, but the staff have enough English that it was not a problem. Didn't stay for dessert as we went off on search of Crepes (unsuccessfully at 8pm on a Saturday in September) but if the savoury courses are any guide the puds would be excellent. If I ever find myself in Blankenberge again I'd have to have a very good reason to eat...

The food is really great, taste and portion sizes are good. Staff are kind and helpful. There were many kids in the restaurant(we had an early dinner), but it was still quite calm and pleasant.
