Leysen — Restaurant in Bonheiden

Please be careful. It started from the appetizer. We should have noticed then. We ordered tuna ceviche (more like tartare than ceviche, not very fresh) to share among 3 adults, and 3 plates were served. The server said "We asked if everyone would eat it, and you said you would." It felt a bit forced. We were speaking English at the time, so we compromised and thought maybe we had trouble communicating. For the main course, we ordered steak. The menu listed the price "1 kg" about €47 , and we were worried about whether we could eat it, so we asked how much it would be per person. The server replied that it was about 200g per person. The bill was charged at €47  "per person". (even included a toddler!He just ate 3 small sliced meat...)

The server also said that we could have a little bit of each side dish, so we asked, and in the end, we were charged the full price for everything. They also arbitrarily increased the portions of fries and other dishes to two people, and even gave us a generous amount of sauce for four people, which we didn't ask for. The server was very friendly in his explanation, but in the end, we felt scammed.  It was €370 for four people including one toddler. If you ask something, you need to ask exactly what you want.I don't recommend if you ask their recommendations,because their explanations are so tricky.

The red wine tasted good, but it was far too cold. The dishes were tiny and the taste was nothing special. I'm also pretty sure I contracted some kind of infection or virus from the chicken meat as my stomach was VERY upset and that manifested in 2 way outward traffic (I'll spare the details) for days after.

The staff were friendly, but it didn't felt like they were sincerely so. Smiling when facing you and a straight, grumpy face when turned around. Maybe that was just the waitress.

I can't really recommend this place...

Lang moeten wachten op aperitief. Tijdens eten zelfs niets meer om te drinken (vergeten?)

Extra brood...vergeten.

Voorgerecht was ok.

Enkel bleek de amuse ook hetzelfde te zijn als het voorgerecht (zalm tartaar). Men had op zijn minst al anders kunnen presenteren.

De extra mayonaise en frieten nooit gezien.

Rib eye blue gevraagd, segnant gekregen. De smaak van de rog, steak, hertekalf was smaakloos.

Kroketten waren te hard gebakken.

Wat nog het ergste was: we hebben gerechten gekozen op basis van allergie en wat mensen lekker vonden. Maar men heeft hier besloten om hun eigen menu niet te volgen en zonder waarschuwen. Bij klacht kregen we te horen dat het druk geweest is en men wat om het bord heeft gegooid. Ongehoord!

Mais en tomaten bij hertekalf dat weet zelfs een hulpkok, dat past niet. Witloof bij roggevleugel en brocoli dat gaat niet samen.

Als je het lef hebt om een voorgerecht van 20 euro en hoofdgerecht van rond de 30 euro te vragen mag je verwachten dat je krijgt wat je vraagt en dat er bediening in de zaal aanwezig is.

Als klap op de vuurpijl: je verwacht ook in zo een zaak niet dat de wc bril galf op de wc ligt, het fake zilver afblikkert en dat de urinoir kranen niet geroest zijn. En ik denk niet dat het ‘vintage’ bedoeld was.

Ofwel hadden wij gewoon pech, maar in zie dit op andere review sites ook tetug komen, goeie recensies en soms hetzelfde wat wij meemaakten: letterlijk dumpen van restjes.
