Restaurant Tropic — Restaurant in De Haan

My mom and I went there for lunch. The place was nice, comfortable, and warm. We both ordered sole meunière (zee tongue) au prix du jour. We specifically asked that they were the real ones having had bad experience at another restaurant in De Haan. Service was fast. Soles were well fried and warm. Unfortunately, they were overcooked and fried in oil instead of butter. They came with salad and tomatoes, and we choose croquettes which had also the taste of the same oil as the one used to cook the sole. To finish we had a latte, that too was under paar. A nice surprise on the beach side. Was looking for a place to eat decent food in the area. Pretty difficult to find an open restaurant for lunch in February. The place is a small, bistro with an affordable luxury menu. The fish is delicious ( tried the bas and the three fishes dish) and my son loved the chicken file with apple compot. And all this with a nice view on...

Familie diskriminiert!

Wir wurden mit 3 Kindern zum Tisch geführt und konnten dann plötzlich doch nicht Platz nehmen. Da wir neben Deutsch und Englisch auch fließend Niederländisch sprechen, konnten wir hören, dass dann gesagt werden sollte, der Tisch “sei angeblich reserviert.”Die Mitarbeiterin war selbst überrascht über das Vorgehen und sichtlich peinlich berührt. Dem Kollegen war diese Diskriminierung anscheinend egal.

Wenn man keine kleinen Kinder möchte, sollte man dies explizit vorab mitteilen oder keine Kindergerichte anbieten. Wir werden dieses Restaurant meiden und auch unsere Erfahrung mit Familien und Freunden teilen (wohnhaft in Belgien) und medial teilen.
