Bar Bask — Restaurant in Ghent

Good but expensive. The interior is very well done and the atmosphere is great. The food is very pure yet great in taste. We went for a whole lot to share. The pork croquette was my favourite. The bone marrow was delicious (as bone marrow should be) but I missed a little topping, like a gremolata, to balance the fattiness and compliment the bone marrows taste. Patatas bravas were great. I could go on, we took quite some things. The wait staff is a bit nonchalant, but this adds to the whole tapas/pintxos restaurant vibe. The only thing which is not in line with this whole concept is the price. If you pay this much for a night out you need impeccable service (and you do not need to get your own water refill). They get 4 stars because it was a fun night, it was tasty and simply good. If the price would match the experience they would have gotten 5. I’m glad I tried this place, but I won’t...

The place is pricey but in return you get unique dishes and unique combos of food. It was al very tasty. The service was good, but maybe a bit too quick. We went for the menu and blasted through the 7 dishes in a short time.

The place looks cool but is horrible acoustically. We were seated next to a table of 8 which were quite loud. Upon asking one of the waiters if we could move to another table she just said it’s noisy everywhere, but we could try. Maybe time to do something about it then with some acoustic dampening.

Excellent food but it does not come to its full potential in that setting, which for this price...

Een heel povere ervaring voor een restaurant met veel faciliteiten en ogenschijnlijk leuke invloeden. De baskische invloed is ver zoek in deze werkplek - nadat ik het persoonlijk bezocht. De eerste opmerking: het restaurant is gelegen op een afweg te Gent waar amper parkeergelegenheid voorhanden is. Er wordt gewerkt met twee services: 18u en 20u30 Het was ongelooflijk koud op een vrijdagavond en om 17u52 kon de deur niet open voor een oudere vrouw met knie problemen. Misschien kunnen jullie een bar of ontvangstruimte voorzien? Met de prijzen die jullie vragen is klantvriendelijkheid het minste ;-)

De lijn die nu uit enthousiasme aanschuift voor een shift zal vlug afdruipen na een culinaire ervaring bij jullie - mijn insziens.

De tafels zijn rond en de zaal veel te luidruchtig. Mooie presentatie van producten en eetwaren maar de prijzen zijn veel te spijzig. Champagne en aperitief werden minimaal ingeschonken. Chupito’s werden vervolgens veel te laat daaropvolgend gepresenteerd.

Je bent als groep verplicht om elk een hoofdgerecht te nemen maar de meeste gerechten hebben ‘een dagprijs’. Prijs is veel te hoog voor de simpele uitwerking en warrige presentatie van de kreeft, steak en bijgerechten. Je krijgt tussendoor een kleine zoutige bisque die het gezelschap zou moeten kunnen smaken maar dit is een duivels geschenkje. Veel te zout en een aromakiller.

Middelmatige gastvrijheid, etenswaren en bediening (wijn bediening werd door onszelf overgenomen door gebrek aan bediening)

Digestief is pokkeduur en schandalig weinig in volume.

Anyhow, niet het bezoeken waard. Een enorme teleurstelling! Deze plek heeft zijn historische achtergrond niet mee. Maar als jullie (ongetwijfeld) in de toekomst bezwijken dan hebben jullie het enkel aan...
