This church is a beautiful piece of Ghent. It is just behind the Capitol theatre at the Zuid. You can also take a bus to Dampoort near the Sint Anna church. There is a beautiful little park in front of the building. The park isn't visited much, but it makes it a very nice and quiet place to hang out in. The church isn't open alot of times, but they do open, so people can visit! This church was the centre of controversy the past few months in Ghent. With the new liberal mayor of Ghent the church is now for SALE with a very cheap price. They want to sell it to a multinational supermarkt to turn the church into a supermarkt. Apparently they will try to keep many elements but wished they have opened it for at least one week for everyone to witness the beautiful church for the one last time. I wonder if they will try to keep some of the artworks to place it in the museums as it is definitely one of the beautiful pieces of it...
