Colmar — Restaurant in Ghent

The only thing you have to decide, is your main course, everything else you can select yourself. Starting with a buffet for the starters, on to the desserts. Even drinks are all you can 'drink', with free refills.

We were there on Father's day 2024 with 8 people. And to be honest, we were a little disappointed when we left. 2 of us had the special steak (most expensive on the menu) and received a brick of meat. It was hard, it was almost to hard to cut. We ordered saignant, which it definitely wasn't. The service was OK. The appetizers menu (which is free), was rather limited. In the desserts you had a chocolate fountain that was not working, the chocolate in there was rather hard. There was no fruit or something that you could put in the chocolate fountain.

Segregation is still present in this restaurant. All coloured families (with children) entering the restaurant (Even with reservation) were PARKED behind panels near the fire exit (on the left-hand side of the restaurant facing the Kortrijksesteenweg)by the receptionist, even though the restaurant was empty. It was so obvious that no one in that corner understood the situation. All other families entering the restaurant had the honour of enjoying the child-friendly zone (even without reservations). Several children in the restaurant were enjoying the desserts of the buffet directly with their dirty hands in the big trays, with their parents enjoying the scenery. The staff was very unfriendly. The moment we sat down we were immediately pressured by the manager to choose a menu. He instantly assumed we were there just for drinking and started patronising us. During our dinner we were interrupted multiple times that we had to end eating our buffet, all the while the restaurant wouldnt be closed for still a few hours. Later, one of the staff refused our consumtion of the buffet, while we weren’t being rude en we were really calm and just having a nice family dinner. At the end, one of the staff just handed us the check and asked us to leave, while the restaurant was still opened. We thought this was unaceptable but we complied and left the premises.
