Upon arriving in Gent we didn't have a clue but asking around, this restaurant was high on locals list.
Like all, we went through the reviews and tried to call for a spot, either on Sunday for lunch or Saturday, both times on the bar as they suggest they have space for walk-ins.
It felt a bit NL-unfriendly but that's okay, after all we pass through.
On Sunday we took the risk and grabbed 2 seats on the bar. Which might feel at first as pretentious quickly change to young, friendly and speak easy vibes. Music matches the vibes and food is just d e l i c I o u s. No wine disappointed me (orange, white, lady red).
The view through the restaurant onto the garden makes the food match the colour of the leaves in autumn.
But yes, there's always room for improvement. The jackets are stored in the toilet front room, only blacklight is like you're in the hood and in the toilet is a unfriendly smell. As it's 1 toilet, very lady unfriendly because they can't see the state of the toilet(seat) as off the blacklight.
Overall, we will come again to eat and drink, let out minds go over the delicious food and lovely staff. You see the dedication in the kitchen where to work undisturbed hard at...

The asparagus were also prepared deliciously, with great attention to detail. But exploration also comes with risks; the concoctions are not always an improvement on the more conventional ways. This is a typical remark for all haute cuisine. All to often the looks become more important than the taste. Not so here though: the tastes are clearly kept as an important factor too! STILL, my preference goes to the authentic style ray fish in the oven, with butter sauce and capers. I always find it hard to give a rating to this kind of restaurant... Ultimately: Price: 5/5 Originality:...
Read moreI visited Elders for dinner and booked a table at the bar, overlooking the kitchen. This was a good choice, as it was really an experience watching the entire team working hard on all the dishes throughout the evening.
Each dish was served with great attention to detail and had distinctive flavours. I admire the hard work the team clearly put into the cuisine and the serving staff were also friendly and efficient. The natural wines by the glass (we tried a few) weren't completely to my taste but were certainly interesting and a nice pairing with the food. Overall, I'd recommend Elders - it's worth the short trip by tram or taxi when you're on a...
