As always it is always a joy to have an evening out in this restaurant where delicious food is served. We mentioned during our reservation that we do not include meat into our diet. They made sure that we had a mouthwatering menu around lovely products from the sea cooked with lots of attention. I would like to thank the staff and the chef for this lovely experience. We will definitely return.
However, there are a couple of points that were not to our liking. We did not select the most expensive bottle of wine. We enjoyed a nice Pinot Noir from the North of Italy. However, it was served ice-cold which is unusual for a red wine. The wine steward mentioned that their wine cellar has unfortunately not warmed up after the cold spell of weather we had a few weeks ago. Drinking a cold red wine is not to my liking and certainly not to the standards of the restaurant to what they inspire to. I also once had the serve the wine myself after opening. This said, on a positive note, I was very happy with the wine list with lots of choice between wines that are affordable.
I attach a lot of importance to the quality of bread in the restaurants I chose. Unfortunately it was not self-made and it did not even seem to come from a local bakery - I had the impression that it was more industrial frozen that just needed to be popped in the oven. The staff told me that in the near future they will start baking their own bread. I will be happy to return to try.
But in general we had a great evening. Keep up...
Read moreI really feel disappointed in this establishment. We visited few weeks ago and it was a Saturday afternoon. I frequent around Michelin starred restaurants as I like gourmet cuisine. The food was Michelin star worthy, but everything else, not so really. In the restaurant there were at least 25 people and only two servers plus owner. We spent 5 hours here waiting to get served all meals while in other restaurants the wait was quite shorter due to suffixent staff number. Poor servers were running around all the time trying to deliver l, but obviously they couldn’t serve everyone in a timely manner. What I also found to be quite uncomfortable is that we didn’t even get served with butter while waiting for food, while everyone else did. We were placed in a corner and it really seemed as if everyone forgot that we existed and we always got served last. I know that Michelin doesn’t take away stars easily, but if I could, I would definitely. Not for the food, but only for the incredibly negligent staff (due to insufficient number of them) just so the owner could take few thousand euros after the end...
Read moreA lovely dinner with my significant other! We had dinner on Friday night and we had a reservation at 19h. Since we were the first to arrive, we had the opportunity to chat with the current owner. She is charming, French speaking and tries her best to speak Flemish. The staf is bilingual Flemish/French. The restaurant is the former restaurant Aloyse Kloos, once a well-known French restaurant that was a little out-dated when it closed its doors and offered a lot of Asian-inspired fusion food. The new owners not only updated the interior to a tasteful modern, minimalistic look but re-introduced a more traditional, yet modern French cuisine. We chose the 5-course menu with matching wine. The selection was perfect and every wine was properly presented by the sommelier. I specified that I am gluten-intolerant at the reservation and the kitchen made the necessary changes and the food was lovely! Service altogether was very friendly and charming and we had a great evening. We will be back soon for another...
