Elisa by JAVA Coffee — Restaurant in Leuven

I live nearby, so I've been here many times through the years, because we really enjoy the interior of this place, it's really beautiful. The coffee is definitely fine for Leuven standards. The problem is the food: it's old school and basic, and unfortunately not anymore a single option that is vegan, not even a sandwich. We used to routinely come here for their banana bread (which was fine!), but it had disappeared months ago to never reappear, without any vegan alternative. We keep on hoping and from time to time checking if they have something for us, but the staff always look at us like a deer caught in the headlights, completely unaware what is or is not vegan on the menu 😅 that's just simply not good enough for Leuven. We hope the day will come when we can enjoy...

This place has been such a great discovery! Its spacious, beautifully decorated and has a relaxed atmosphere. Plenty of great coffee choices and I'm happy to say the chai is made with actual spices (no powders or syrup). Food options are equally simple yet delicious. Prices are more than fair. And the staff is genuinely friendly. Decided to go back again from the moment I sat down here for the first time!

Nice place, lightfull. Food is delicious, thick gorgeous bread, plate presentation really nice and appealing. Service during lunch is too slow. More than 25 minutes for a soup that is directly ready to be served. It's too long. After pandemic closures, people want to return to eating places but owners please size your staff correctly.
