Pepe Cafe — Restaurant in Perwez

Short answer: good burger, good cocktails, but do not take the dessert "Sabayon" (Zabaione) if you do not like the fact that it is frozen, and take care of what they serve you as they can make mistakes. Longer answer: I really like the food there, the cocktails are great: we can taste the alcohol in it and the price is honest. Concerning the food, we took a burger and it was very good! I wanted to take a Pepe burger and add an egg on top (oeuf à cheval) but they gave me a burger without the extra AND the burger did not contain the bacon that it should have. Even though this was disturbing as my friends were already eating their food, they replaced my burger quite fast. The burger was not so hot, quite okay, but the fries were hot, thus freshly cooked. Concerning the dessert, this was not nice: I tried their "Sabayon" (Zabaione) which should be liquid, as a normal sabayon, but it was not. It was served in a jar, and it was served frozen. It should have tasted like Bailey's (a flavor they had put in the desserts menu) but did not. It did have a taste of Sabayon but this was very slight, maybe because it was frozen. The taste was near a vanilla ice cream. The problem with the burger and with the Sabayon are each the reason of losing one star on my rating. Also, the people were really noisy there. But the food is good, well, the burger. And cocktails...

Je me permets de vous écrire pour exprimer mon mécontentement concernant la qualité des plats qui m'ont été servis lors de ma visite dans votre restaurant. En effet, j'ai été extrêmement déçu de constater que tout ce qui m'a été servi semblait être du réchauffé et pas du tout fait maison.

Les frites que j'ai commandées, supposées être fraîches, ressemblaient à s'y méprendre à des frites surgelées bas de gamme. La texture et le goût étaient bien loin de ce que l'on pourrait attendre d'un restaurant de qualité. De plus, tous les autres plats que j'ai commandés semblaient également avoir été réchauffés, et je n'ai pas du tout senti de saveurs fraîches ou d'ingrédients frais. La sauce au poivre de l'escalope était industrielle avec trop de liant et des exausteurs de goût, l'escalope gratinés était réchauffée c'est du porc et pas précisé sur la carte. Le vol au vent de poisson et légumes poireaux était bon pour un surgelé.

Je suis un habitué des restaurants de qualité, et je m'attends à ce que les plats servis soient faits maison avec des ingrédients frais et de qualité. Je suis donc très déçu de voir que cela n'a pas été le cas dans votre établissement. Je suis convaincu que vous pouvez faire mieux, et je vous encourage vivement à revoir vos pratiques pour offrir une expérience culinaire plus agréable à vos clients. Quant au service, rien à dire si ce n'est la rapidité anormale pour des plats cuisinés...
