Maison D — Restaurant in Ronse

Just exquisite. Very happy to have had the chance to swing by Maison D for lunch. Reservations are necessary since the place is mostly fully booked. The menu changes weekly, but I do have to say that everything is prepared with the utmost detail. Each ingredient is presented in a very fine manner visually and textually, cooked in its own way to bring out the best of its taste (barbecued, grilled, in mousse, etc...). If there was one small critique I could allow for the dishes, there was a bit too much mousse on the plates, I personally would have preferred an extra vegetable or two instead of the foams. However Maison D is real pleasure for the palate, and this at a very decent price for such an haute cuisine. You will not be disappointed. During lunch time the atmosphere is quite busy, the place is buzzing with business men, elderly couples. The house itself is magnificent, an old Maison de maître beautifully restored, however I do feel like the style of the decorations is a bit clinical, it lacks a bit of warmth on the walls, even if they try to compensate this with a lot of pillows to make it look more cozy. The staff is very friendly overall (although one of the waitresses seemed to be having a bad day and wasn't very smiley or concerned about our well being, the other waitress however was a true gem) and completely bilingual seeing as Renaix / Ronse is a bilingual city. Cuisine: 9/10 Very good cuisine! The starters were excellent! Full of flavors, well balanced, mouthwatering. The veal was excellently cooked, lovely tastes! The duck dish was good and deep in flavors, however it misses a touch of acidity or sweetness to break the earthiness flavors! The desert was one of the best I’ve ever had!

Staff and service: 10/10 Very Welcoming and very nice staff, excellent service, they speak different languages. Perfect timing for the service.

Ik moet toegeven dat ik het niet kende. Maar als natuurlijk alle horeca al een aantal maanden dicht is, is dat niet heel moeilijk. Maar gelukkig leerde ik het kennen, dankzij Jason, de vriend van onze dochter. En wat een ontdekking. We namen het viergangenmenu 'Grand D.'. En inderdaad... grand kun je het wel noemen!

Eerst kregen we kreeft met romesco, artisjok en ricotta (foto). Daarna kabeljauw met groene asperge, spitskool en daslook. Gevolgd door kalfsvlees in drie bereidingen met gebrande prei en bergamot. En gevolgd door een dessert van aardbei, rabarber, basilicum en yoghurt. Superlekker allemaal en zeer mooie presentatie. En dat aan €52!!

Ook op de bediening en vriendelijkheid niet op aan te merken. De porties zijn meer dan voldoende. En ook de aangepaste wijnen waren dik OK.

Wij gaan er zeker terug, en we hopen voor u hetzelfde :-). En wat een heerlijk vaderdag cadeau...

En ja hoor... We zijn er nog eens terug geweest. Nu hebben we er mogen geniet van hun '10 jaar Maison D'. Echt sterren niveau. En stuk duurder dan hun 'standaard' menu, maar de ingrediënten waren er ook naar. Moeilijk om een goede omschrijving te vinden, maar subliem dekt toch wel een deel van de lading.
