I am very disappointed because I went there to celebrate my mother‘s Birthday. I was aware we had a limited reservation until 20:30, but it’s a real pity we started being reminded of that as of 19:30, and urging us to order desert if we wanted. By 20:30 we were still finishing our wine and although there were a few empty tables the host insisted we had to leave our table and were moved to another empty room. It felt as if we were not welcome and weird as the other guests had not arrived yet, and never did. Unfortunately this left a VERY BAD taste of our dinner, which was food wise really nice, I felt sad that my mother felt bad on her celebration because of the way the host treated us.
Read moreOur experience at Gueuleton was divided. The food was 10/10, great appetizers, delicious meat and sides - which ultimately is the most important part.
The service however wasn't up to par for that type of establishment. We were served the wrong drinks (wine instead of bubbles for aperitive, wrong cocktails), the wrong piece of meat was brought to us for presentation (noticed the number was not correct), and the wrong meat again was put on our table -- luckily we had not started serving ourselves because it would have been very awkward to have to explain to other guests why their very expensive steak had been eaten by someone else.
In addition, there was a table of 4 men who kept singing loudly and banging their hands on the table. More befitting a 'soccer café' than a reputable restaurant that should uphold certain standards. When we shared our concerns with the waiter (in the hopes that they would go up to the table to gently nudge the men to be a bit more mindful of the other guests) - we were met with disdain and a pretty clear message that the guests were 'just having fun amongst friends'..
We will be back to try the delicious food again, and will cross our fingers that it will be a 'calmer' experience' next...
Read moreI visited this restaurant yesterday and I was really impressed. In general I don't like restaurants in Belgium because I find annoying (and extremely boring) that they serve exactly the same dishes everywhere (tomato with grey shrimps, fondues, spaghetti Bolognese, grilled meat with fries etc, so either most of the Belgian cooks don't have the imagination to cook something else either most of the people in this country like to eat the same food every day of their lives, or a combination of the two...).
Having said the above, finding a restaurant that serves inventive and delicious food is really a great surprise. The old farm has been renovated with very good taste (hello pastel colors!), there is a big garden in the back, perfect for an apero 'lounge style', and there's a terrace in the front to eat outdoors enjoying good weather. I went straight to my table so I didn't enter the shop, but I'll do it next time. The food I had was delicious: braised leeks with goat cheese as starter, and roasted chicken with polenta as main (the portions are good size), paired with good wine by the glass. The price is a bit above average but definitely worth it. Will come...
