Churrasqueria El Fogón del Gringo — Restaurant in Municipio Tarija

I'll start by saying I am not a steak connoisseur - but this was damn good. Very high quality meat. I made the mistake of ordering the equivalent of medium rare, instead of medium, and had to get mine put back on the grill for a moment. My dinner companion did not make that error and hers was just perfect. We also got a nice local wine to go with it - a great meal with excellent, patient service, and as others have noted, descent salads (though really, who would go for the salads?)

This spot is as good as its reputation suggests...

Altho' it's been a while since visiting there I have to say that it is some of the best beef I have ever had. Straight from Argentina. And you could cut it with a fork. We always got the large "cuadril" to share. I like mine medium rare and the wife likes hers well done. We tried El Fogon de Gringo in Santa Cruz first. It was recommended by friends who know the owner. Then, we went to the one in Tarija and were amazed. What really made it special was our waitress. Her name was Augustina F. You could tell she thoroughly enjoyed her job, and her happiness made us feel welcome and made our time at El Fogon de Gringo a wonderful positive experience.
