My husband and I have been Pobre Juan customers for years, we first dined in Fashion Mall in São Conrado Rio and then Village Mall in Barra da Tijuca. Recently on our trip in Recife we decided to go to Pobre Juan. Unfortunately when we arrived the host was lounging on the couch like a customer, he was busy looking at his phone. When we sat at the table, I ordered a glass of red wine and was served Alamos wine which you can buy at any grocery store in Rio, not a very sophisticated glass of wine. A good chain restaurant should maintain consistency throughout all of their restaurants. The Recife restaurant was not as well decorated as the other Pobre Juan’s. We were planning to order our usual food items but considering how bad our initial reaction was to the host, the bad wine, the dirty menus and the wrinkled and old table top advertising, we decided to order less than usual. In the end the steak and salad were good but this Pobre Juan is not the same caliber as the Rio restaurant. What a pity, the corporate office needs to improve...
Read moreHad really high expectations and ordered the Ojo del Bife special. It was supposed to be a 420g steak but as you can see from the photo is was not even 250g, worse it was cold and not properly cooked.
I spent approximately USD $45 (R230) to eventually go upstairs and eat in the food court as I was still hungry with the kiddie meal these guys served me with.
Overall you can do wayyyyy better for cheaper at any other...
