Beijupirá: A Culinary Ode to Pernambuco’s Rich Heritage

Nestled within the vibrant tapestry of Olinda—a city whose name itself is a testament to its beauty—Beijupirá stands as a beacon of authentic Pernambucan cuisine. For those like myself, born amidst the rhythms and flavours of this land, returning to Beijupirá is akin to a heartfelt reunion with one’s roots.

The restaurant’s ambiance mirrors the city’s colonial charm, offering a sensory journey that transcends mere dining. Patrícia’s choice of the fish fillet, delicately seasoned with cinnamon and cardamom, accompanied by fried bananas and curry rice, was nothing short of a revelation. The harmonious blend of spices elevated the dish to a sublime experience. My selection, the mixed moqueca—a rich stew of shrimp and fish simmered in coconut milk and dendê oil—was both generous and flavourful, easily satisfying two. Complementing our meal were caipirinhas crafted from an array of fresh, regional fruits, each sip capturing the essence of Pernambuco’s abundant produce.

Beijupirá’s commitment to preserving and showcasing the culinary traditions of Pernambuco is evident in every dish. For natives and visitors alike, it offers an authentic taste of the region’s rich gastronomic heritage, making each visit a celebration of culture...

This was the most unique dining experience I have ever had. The restaurant is tucked away in a tree covered hillside. I felt like we were eating in a treehouse. Beijupirá was so visually stimulating. It's a beautiful property with lots to see and amazing views. Not to mention the interesting design element within the restaurant. The food was another level of amazing. The flavor pairings were so wonderful and unique. I don't know that I will ever be able to top this place. During my trip to Brazil, I saw other Beijupirá locations but they were just regular buildings. The unique structural arrangement and how this place blended into the environment was really...

Amazing food, unique beautiful location, terrible and chaotic service. Would not recommend or come back. It is pricey for the local standards and would be worth if the service would match the food quality.

They forgot one of our drinks, that arrived only after we finished eating. The waiter wasn't interested and just told me he had a lot of orders to take care. The second waiter also did not do anything about it. The manager was busy serving the tables and very hectic, also did not really look for a solution or apologies.

I hope they hire more and qualified waiters to make the whole...
