On a rainy night in Rio, during just my second day in the city, I found myself famished and struggling to get an Uber. By pure luck, I stumbled upon this gem of a restaurant—and the glowing reviews did not disappoint.

Seeking comfort in the unfamiliar, I ordered the chicken soup, which was a delightful surprise: a rich, smoky twist on the classic that warmed me right up. Alongside it, I tried the chicken riblets (or niblets), and they were simply fantastic, bursting with flavor in every bite. The staff was incredibly attentive, and even as the place filled up with a bustling crowd of locals, they made sure I felt right at home.

Though the atmosphere was vibrant and clearly a beloved local hangout, don’t be intimidated if you don’t quite feel like you belong. Even without speaking Portuguese, hand gestures and translation apps worked perfectly, and the warmth of the staff made communication easy and enjoyable.
