Beautifully decorated cafe. The juice was R$10 for a jug for two. Filet mignon burger was a good portion size, steak overcooked though (they didn't ask how we wanted it and we didn't specify). The burger comes with crisps, not French fries. I got the wrap which was average as the bread was very thick and heavy and it just seemed to be filled with lettuce with a few tomatoes and basil pesto. The owner noticed herself that the bread was too thick and apologised profusely an gave us a discount. We were surprised by this and very appreciative. This is definitely worth going to as the food is good, atmosphere very positive and cheap prices for what you get. I am hoping I can go again soon.
Update: The second time we ate here we both took the ribs marinated in cachaca served with courgette salad with Parmesan and mash potato (with a few crispy bits of potato). You only get two ribs and although light we could have done with four each. The salad was surprisingly delicious and the mash very well blended. You can't taste the cachaca on the ribs as the alcohol burns off and the sugar...
Read moreJust had the most disappointing experience at Poró. The place is pretty and has an overall good vibe. The menu looked good and it was recommended by my hotel….I ordered a seafood entrée with prawns and fish in a wonton kind of base -montadinho do mar. The protein was stale and tasteless and overpowered by a whatever sauce. The wonton felt old and did not add anything. Then I got a fish with a rice and cashew base. Everything was overcooked, and the sauce was terrible. The worst thing, tho, was the service. It took 25 mins to get the main dish after I finished the entré (empty plates sitting on the table for a good 10 mins); my drink (a water) came after the entré (after I reminded the waiter) the two waiters who were around clearly did not want to be there, plus there were other two just sitting down; overall they were unresponsive and even rude. 125 BRL bill - definitely...
Read moreEasy access and parking near by, Old house transformed to bar & restaurant with view of Port plus sunset. Seating is rather cramp and chairs not comfortable and old, some cushions the same, no cooling system so is rather hot as ventilator not able to cool down, clients are mostly young people. Night time is cooler with breeze at the varanda and is disputed, good to reserve a table at varanda in case that is your preferences. We tried fish ball and crunchy prawn, all 5 units per order, delicious! There are many more you can try and is a must, try to arrive early as table are limited and queue...
