Extremely disappointing visit due to a serious breakdown in communication, cultural insensitivity, and lack of professionalism from both the service staff and management. My friends, who are non-English speakers, ordered 1 litre of beer with two cups. They requested a larger cup to more easily split the beer between themselves while i was not there. The waitress refused their request due to some restaurant rule, and due to the language barrier, they misunderstood her intentions to assist. In an effort to manage the situation themselves, they attempted to pour the beer and accidentally spilled some on the floor. This was clearly an honest mistake, not an act of disrespect or misconduct. Yet the waitress complained to me saying:âYour friends pour beer on the floor, I donât understand whyââa comment that made them sound irrational and disrespectful. When we tried to ask for a sincere apology and or clarify if there are any misunderstandings, we were met with a defensive and unempathetic attitude. At no point did the staff attempt to bridge the language gap, despite the presence of Chinese-speaking employees who could have easily helped de-escalate the situation. And me, being the only one that is able to speak both languages, was often cut off when i am trying to finish my words. Although they may be in a rush trying to explain themselves, this was deeply unprofessional and rude. Worst of all, they tried to push to all blame to my friends who are not able to understand English instead of addressing the issue of the waitressâs rudeness. The waitress then attempted to play the victim, saying irrelevant things like sheâs a student, maybe we didnât like her face and offering an insincere apology only âif we want soâ. This passive-aggressive response, supported by the manager, was atrocious. First, he tried to brush us off pulling out his â20 years of experienceâ, trying to convince me that itâs my friends fault blah blah and also offering 2 new cups of beer. Then, after we once again reiterated that we just wanted a sincere apology, he said that he will do the apologising but then further went to ask what language do we want him to do it in. This mocking tone is shockingly horrendous to come from a manager of Brotzeit, with so many branches and high ratings.
What we expected was simple: a bit of patience, a willingness to understand cultural differences, and a sincere apology. Unfortunately, we received none of that. Instead, we were left feeling unheard, judged, and unfairly blamed.Yes, the word âsorryâ came out of their mouths at the end, but it lacked sincerity, felt performative, and was clearly said just to pacify us rather than acknowledge any real fault or misunderstanding.
We hope the restaurant takes this feedback seriously and trains its staff to be more culturally aware, empathetic, and solution-oriented when dealing with diverse customers. We expected understandingânot mockery.
No one is blind to sincerity. We all know when an apology is genuine and it was clear your apology lacked it. We didnât leave because we accepted it, but because it became evident that continuing the conversation was unproductive. The lack of respect, coupled with clear prejudice, made it impossible to have a...
Read moreThe food was delicious and filling. It was a big portion for some of the dishes, especially the Schnitizel. The price point for some food were worth it. However, I realised that the price points for some items, compared to some other almost identical items, were more expensive without having much changes to it. Despite that, I highly recommend the ribs, as it was quite delicous and soft, with the meat coming right off the bone. Another food I recommend and also must try is the apple strudel. Although it was very different and unique from normal apple strudel, which made it delicious, the waiter took to long to even serve our dish. This is part of the reason the service was bad. One waiter, took our order with ease, being able to prononce the difficult German food names. However, there were only two waiters at the time, around 9pm, so it was quite empty. Despite it, the food took very long to be prepared; especially the apple strudel. There was a waiter, although not being that busy, was rather slow. Firstly, he served our food slowly, as he overloaded himself with multiple plates on the tray. This concerns me as this may have caused him to make a mistake and fall, since the plates were quite heavy too. Secondly, as we finished our meal, we wanted our dessert to be served. We called the waiter, but he kept going back and forth, with us trying to get the dessert served, and the waiter going to tell the chef to make it. Thirdly, although promised that the dessert will be served within at least 2 minutes, it took us about more than 12 minutes to finally get our order. Lastly, the waiter had offered to take the plates for us as we finished our meal. However, he only took one big plate and one small one. Keep in mind there are still many plates left on the table. The waiter then stopped taking the plates and continued to settle the bill for others. What made this worse, was that I saw a waiter using his phone, and basically standing there and doing anything. The waiter who had first taken our plates, continued to stand at the counter, basically shuffleling the bills of everyone at the restaurant, which seems a bit rude. Even when we directly complained about the slow service to the another waiter, he walked away before saying "sorry", which seems like he was not even apologetic for the slow service. In conclusion, I enjoyed the food there, and also highly recommend the ribs and apple strudel there, as it wasnt that expensive for that type of food. However, the service is rather dissapointing at efficiently, slow at serving, and bad at managing...
Read moreThis Oktoberfest season at Brotzeit, tradition gets a modern twist with a contemporary flair. Theyâre thrilled to feature a renowned European DJ known for performances at top global festivals and venues, from Munich to Ibiza. Plus, there will be a special appearance by a young Austrian yodeler who brings a cool, trendy edge to yodeling.
Attending the Oktoberfest event at Brotzeit Vivo was a memorable experience that perfectly captured the festivalâs essence. From the moment I arrived, the lively atmosphere was evident, with upbeat music in the background and the delicious aroma of food drifting through the air.
The centerpiece of my meal was undoubtedly the Oktoberfest Platter. This impressive arrangement featured an enticing selection of traditional German delicacies, including bratwurst, weisswurst, crispy pork knuckle, and a variety of sauerkraut and potato salad. The sausages were cooked to perfection, bursting with flavor, and the crispy pork knuckle was an absolute standoutâits crackling skin contrasted beautifully with tender, juicy meat. Each bite transported me to the heart of Bavaria, and the portion size was generous enough to share or to keep all the indulgence to myself! The accompanying mustard and pretzel were the icing on the cake, making for a hearty and satisfying meal.
Of course, no Oktoberfest experience would be complete without authentic German beer. The selection of Oktoberfest beers offered at Brotzeit Vivo did not disappoint. Erdinger WeiĂbier, which was gently spicy wheat and yeast aromas blend with mildly bitter hops. The invigorating carbon dioxide ensures its typical liveliness. The beer was served in large, traditional steins, which added to the festive ambience and made every toast feel significant.
The service at Brotzeit Vivo was friendly and attentive, with staff genuinely enthusiastic about the event. Daniel, our server, was particularly commendableâwelcoming us with a smile and promptly guiding us through the menu. He provided excellent recommendations, which made our dining experience even better.
Overall, the Oktoberfest celebration at Brotzeit Vivo, highlighted by the delightful Oktoberfest Platter and exceptional beer, was a delightful journey into Bavarian culture. I left feeling satisfied and with a newfound appreciation for German cuisine and hospitality. I highly recommend this experience to anyone looking to enjoy a taste of Oktoberfest without having to travel to Munich. Prost!
