Beautiful interior with plenty of seating. However, reservations are advised as this is a very popular Indian restaurant. They serve 3 different cuisines; Indian, Arabic and Western. They are good in the Indian dishes but the Arabic dish I found lacking. I have yet to try the western. They are very popular for their Lamb Mandi. Staffs were friendly and attentive, service was quick.
Heres what we ate: GOBI 65. Tender chicken breast with a mild seasoning. Wasn’t hard or dry but wasn’t juicy either.
FISH CURRY. The fish curry was delicious with generous chunks of fish. The curry was spicy, thick, sour and very flavourful. I recommend getting it with some naans/roti or rice.
PANEER KULCHA. Stuffed naan with cottage cheese. The flavor of the cheese was strong and went really well with curries. However, like all the naans we ordered, were really oily. But flavour was good.
PILAF RICE. Very fragrant rice that goes really well with anything. The rice wasn’t too dry and was still fluffy.
BUTTER CHICKEN MASALA. Not the typical creamy butter masala found elsewhere. The masala was quite mild and not too spicy, it does have a tonne of butter but lacked the creaminess. There was a generous amount of chicken but it was kind of dry and tough to eat.
HUMMUS. I was not a fan as tonnes of chopped tomatoes were on top and it just tasted like tomatoes. It was very bland, mostly taste of the chickpeas. Very little tahini, lemon and garlic.
LAMB SHAWARMA. Very basic shawarma. Shredded lamb with cabbages and tomatoes in a wrap. Lamb was bland with no strong flavour, no sauces inside too. Luckily they gave garlic aioli and some chili as condiments in the beginning (not sure if the purpose was for this).
LAMB SAMOSA. Lamb taste was very mild, no other seasoning, wrapped in a puff pastry and deep fried.
Overall, was satisfied with our dinner here as the prices were reasonable for the portion. Will come back to try the other dishes to reassess. Some dishes were a hit and miss but they have plenty of other options in the menu that I believe is their...
Read moreI'll be honest. This restaurant does not fit my bud taste. We ordered Nan plain and garlic - both were dry. Spaghetti bolognes - it was spicy, I get it, the chef puts an Indian twist on it but it was not yummy.
And the biggest dissapointment from me was the butter chicken Masala. It was burnt-ish, the chicken was plain and not flavorful. This is the first time I've tasted this restaurant's version of BCM, and I unfortunately do not like it.
However we have takeaway-ed lamb briyani by tray from this restaurant before and it was good. My guess is not all is bad (according to my taste buds)
This place is a bit crampy, what with the size of the tables and decorations. And I know it's famous, but turns out it's not just for me.
And oh the waitress gave us an ugly look when knowing we didn't make a...
Read moreThe service was unexpectedly very poor this time. I booked a table in advance. Starting with the reception, the receptionist was talking over the phone long time when customer is waiting in front of her. Eventually she showed the pre booked table and no one came for the first 5 mins after my guests seated. The drink waiter was good but food waiter came straight with the main dish first instead of starter. In the middle of dinner, I asked if every items are complete as per my order then they realised they had to serve starter and they served starter in the middle of the main meal. I was very ashamed infront my guests. I will re-think when I consider going back to this restaurant again...
