I was shocked, and not in a good way. Getting in and sitting down at a table was easy, but looking at the food I didn’t find much that I could put on one plate without having the sauces mix and mess around with each other. There’s plenty of choices, sure, if you are fine with very different and strong flavors played against one another. There’s a lot of steamed fish with different sauces, and shell fish nearby. A Japanese style cooking station has some options, and a little further down the same counter is the meat station.
I got my food mostly from the meat station where they carve off slices at your request. I looked around for noodles, and only found one big serving bowl of thick rice noodles, which is fine but definitely not what I would want as the only choice. The quality of the meat was fine, except for one of the beef choices. It reminded me of rubber in look and texture.
Second plate didn’t do much better, so I tried grabbing some of the rice noodles with the Thai spicy soup that they had. It was good! I liked the spices and rich flavor from the soup, and the noodles were just right, I got more beef (the better selection, not sure of the name), and ate it. I got a bigger bowl afterwards.
It was around 8:50-9:00 at that time, when I went to grab a bowl for my mom. There were little noodles left, and when I came back to the noodle bowl (after confirming if she was okay with having a small amount of noodles), they had thrown the rest away. Not replacing the noodles, but just tossed into the garbage. No, they weren’t adding more, I asked two people and made sure.
I’ve talked only about the food so far. As for the service, it was terrible. The people at the soup station talked to one another and with waitresses (hey, that’s fine honestly) but when you have a customer waiting and you’re sitting there, that’s bad business. One person was literally sitting down behind the counter, while another was talking to a waitress. I waited a minute or two, it became clear they wouldn’t stop soon so I waved to them. The person sitting down just got the attention of their colleague and that’s how I got soup.
They don’t speak English. I know how much of an a-hat I sound like when I walk into a foreign country and complain about that, but this is a special case to me. I don’t have a problem at other places because they’ll have pictures or enough English text on the menu for me to figure stuff out. Over here, they don’t understand when you try to cancel your beer order, and they don’t know what cuts of beef or pork they have (ham vs bacon). When I’m paying over $20 just for myself, no one else in my party, I expect more. This wouldn’t be as much as a bother to me if there weren’t the other issues.
The air conditioning is absolutely horrid. It’s honestly better to sit outside because AT LEAST there’s the chance of a breeze, and you’re not sitting at a chair praying for the person walking by won’t fart so you’ll get to enjoy their small wake of air as they pass. I didn’t eat hot food yet and I was drinking cold beer, still sweating.
Oh, and their hours are not accurate as described on Google Maps and on their website. They close at 9:30, seemingly sharp, as they packed their stuff up at 9:11. I included some photographs showing them packing up at 9:11, while they’re advertised to close at 10. I guess that’s partly why they didn’t have anymore noodles, that’s a slightly better excuse than having a buffet with ONE real choice of noodles running out of noodles.
Too long; didn’t read (TL:DR): no, just don’t....
Read moreI supposed to give this place a 5/5 but due to irresponsible team of the wedding decor, I have to give some insightful feedback based on my wedding experiences.
Positives: sales team, operations, food, drinks, live band, sound system, AC
Negatives: the wedding decorations. You are not allowed to bring your own decor in due to venue policy. However, working with decor team led by Piseth is very unprofessional and irresponsible. He couldn't give a preview of decor design due to the budget, so I and my wife had to choose the samples from the restaurant facebook posts for him to give ideas. His team also had limited photos of previous wedding events, so we had no choice but choose what others have done which I find ours aren't unique. We don't want to go waste with fresh flowers just for a few hours dinner, that's why we try to reuse all the artificial flowers as recycling materials, and the restaurant could only spend on the labour costs. But the guy insisted us on having more.
Only 2 days left prior to our wedding, everything was not finalised and I tried to call him many times but he didn't pick up. We decided to go to the restaurant and met the sales team about our difficulties to work with him and I guess there was a humble man sitting nearby whom we assumed the owner try to get the sales to team do a livestream meeting with him in order to get things done faster for us.
For the photodrop, he asked for additional $100 on top of our agreed budget to print just our small logo on it, so I asked him to redo the acrylic logo which is smarter and nicer and cheaper, but at the end he still charged the banner price.
In the morning, I spotted check on the stage curtain was BADLY STAINED with dirts all over the place as shown in the pictures and video, I called him and asked why he didn't check before clipping the curtain, the only response from him was to blame on the restaurant staff and then a 'sorry' from him, so our morning session went spoiled as he couldn't manage to make it on time.
I don't normally give terrible review but at least 3 stars here for the hardwork of sales and operations team and probably the owner who got himself involved in solving the problem for us. They gain my respect 🙏
So in overall, if you are planning for a wedding at this place, pls ensure you accept the quality of the decorations and consider my personal...
