Al Baik Pizza & Broast — Restaurant in Ajax

Whilst Al Baik Pizza is a top Halal pizza place in Durham, there is a need for a change with their policy re: delivery or at least be up front with the customer if you cannot meet their order in the specified time. This past weekend we ordered pizza from them for the Afrocentric Program in Ajax. We knew we had to feed the 25 students by 12:30pm. When we called at around 11:00 am to place our order they told us that we had to wait until 12:00pm and order via Skip the Dishes. We informed them that we had to have the pizza by 12:30pm. We were told that this would not be a problem. At 12:40pm we phoned the store to ask about our delivery as we had the children waiting for their lunch. We were told it would arrive in 5-6 minutes. The food did not arrive until 1:02pm. It was incredibly embarrasing and awkward as the parents/guaridans had come to pick up their children only to find out that they had not had lunch yet. Children were to be picked up was at 1:00pm. Many of the parents/guardians were gracious and allowed us to give their children the treat part of their lunch first. This kind of situation should never have happened. They should not have promised to have the pizza ready and delivered to us by 12:30pm, especially since they have been in business for awhile and know exactly how long it takes for them to prepare 6 pizzas, cook them and to deliver them to a spot in Ajax. We are a small organization, who cannot afford to have any hiccups like this, especially when parents/guardians are entrusting us with their children. Unfortunately, we will now have to turn to a big box pizza chain that offers Halal. We tried to support the local small establishment and it didn't work out and the worst part of it was that there was no compensation or explanation given for their error. It appears that my first review had been taken down so I am going to say it again. After consuming this meal, my family and I have food poisoning, which is why you should be careful with your next order. Us like many others had been lured into giving Al Baik a try based on its verified reviews here on google. After our first experience with this business, it's safe to say that they completely unjustify the quality of the food itself and the space in which it is cooked. For these reasons, it will be our last.

So many issues stood out to us upon entering the space, where cleanliness and sanitation were of grave concern. To describe a very realistic first impression of the shop, the environment was filthy and extremely unkept. From unfinished walls and even dirt on the ground, the general area (not beginning to take a stab at the culinary space) was downright disgusting. While waiting for our take out order to be prepared for pick-up, we noticed behind the counter that the surfaces upon which food was prepared was dirty and covered in food particles. The chicken and toppings of the pizza were kept open, uncovered, and looked stale and dry. Not to mention, the cashier was not even wearing a mask during the current COVID-19 crisis.

We've included an image of our order for today, where the chicken tikka pizza slices barely contain any chicken. Not only is this place unsanitary, but they are cheating you for your money's worth. Chicken toppings here at Al Baik are equivalent to 2 toppings in your 3 toppings that are included with each pizza. For 2 toppings, they gave little to none quantity.

Overall, the Food inspectors should take notice of such an establishment. It's truly a shame how many people are blandly overlooking such basic requirements for a food chain during a global...

THE WORST PIZZA SHOP IN THE WHOLE DURHAM REGION, These people are nasty, very disrespectful, a bunch of thieves who will try to overcharge you every single time, Today I had some guests coming over so I called Al Baik pizza and placed two large pizzas for $31.99 which is mentioned on their online menu, a lady picked up who could barely speak any English and took her over 15 minutes to understand what I wanted to order, after I confirmed with her twice that it’ll be $31.99 plus taxes and she said yes, I then went to pick it up, as soon is I entered the place I was disgusted by how nasty this place was, I have never seen a pizza shop this dirty in my 20 years living in Canada, I was then greeted by a really disrespectful elder man who didn’t say hi or anything and came to cashier, I asked him to show me the pizzas first, he said don’t worry it’s good, they are perfect, I took his word for that, and then he told me the total will be $47.54, I said WHAT!! It’s supposed to be $31.99 plus tax which will make it $36.14, he then said with really disrespectful tone, oh no you ordered two large pizza with these toppings Blah blah, I said no they come 3 toppings each and that’s what I ordered, he then said oh ok here your total will be $37.85 that’s including one extra garlic sauce, so I paid and left, I brought the pizzas home, as soon I opened one of them, I was disgusted with the way the pizza was, it had really less almost no toppings at all, remember it’s supposed to be 3 toppings, and it’s really really disgusting taste, I regretted paying $37.85 of my hard earned money for these thieves, for sake of god just look...
