My issue was with the food being incorrect and then arguing with us, they (the owners) seem to remember our race wasn’t the same as everyone else there even tho it was months ago and that makes me bitter… guess anyone who doesn’t look like the owners is bitter and an issue.
This seems to be the cheers of the area, where everyone knows your name.
Walked by it many times, and its always busy. Noticed during this time and when going in they serve one type of client.
Finally went in and had to wait for a table while others who came in behind got seated, seemed these were the locals.
Finally got a table on the converted patio (they put some sort of tent over it) and ordered our food.
They bought the soup of the day, and forget what it was suppose to be, but it was a seafood chowder. Me and my date detest seafood (except sushi), and this was about as seafood as it gets. I let the server know and she started to argue with me it wasnt seafood as they don't serve that, despite the tentacle in the soup.
Finally she went back and spoke to the kitchen, they had changed the soup and didnt update anything. I told her we didnt want it and they agreed after some discussion to remove it from the bill.
I wouldnt go back, food was meh, decor was meh, service was beyond meh, but they are busy and will not care.
Also be careful not to be run over walking to it, the parking situation is...
Read moreAlways looking for a new place to check out and always a bonus if they have a patio and are dog-friendly! This was a great find.
Let me tell you what I loved about this place - the waitress with the lovely blue hair was soooo sweet! I was undecided on a drink as there was no drink menu and when I told her I was in the mood for something with grapefruit juice she said "trust me, I'll bring you something you'll love". And she was right. Then, my teenaged son ordered a steak "well done" and she questioned him on that and suggested he try "medium well" and .... she was right ... and he thanked her and will hereinafter order "medium well" (which is a good thing because one day order "well done" is going to get him a leather boot on the table!).
My daughter and husband loved their cesear salad. The burger was nice as was the steak sandwich. French fries also a huge hit.
The patio was set back from the road so it was quiet and the tables were spread out such that we weren't crowded. Umbrellas that move around in the event you have a love/hate relationship with direct sun.
Now you all know I love my dessert and always enjoy a "hint of chocolate" post-dinner. Well, they offer up mini brownies with your bill. Nice touch. ...
Read moreI am not one for posting reviews - but I. LOVE. THIS. SPOT.
I have lived in the neighborhood for 15+ years, and only just found this hidden gem this summer. It has quickly become a favourite spot for me.
I am a “busy working mom” in an executive role and, in an effort to circumvent burnout, I went looking for “me-breaks”….. and I found the Village Public House.
I go all by myself with a book. I sit on the patio and have lunch reading…. And I leave full, happy, and renewed!
The food is EXCELLENT! I have never been disappointed (I’ve enjoyed charcuterie, cheese board, grilled cheese, fish and chips, burgers, poppers, perogies, wings, salads…). Every single thing has been amazing.
The service is top-notch. Super friendly and attentive … never makes me feel rushed even though I stay for a while taking a table as just one person while I read.
Every time I visit, I leave feeling comforted like I have been “at home”, and renewed like I had a mini-vacation….. it is a 5++++...
